What was the point of having 5 rotors if they all had the numbers 1 to 26 on them? Am I missing something?

+Jeroen Vermont It's because now you have 5 to choose 3 from. So one day you could use the 3-1-2 and the next day you can use rotors 5-2-4 as an example, meaning it gets a lot harder to decrypt :)

Some pen and paper ciphers are polyalphabetic.Two different letters can become same cipher letters.Ex.Vigenere,Playfair etc.

+Damian Robert Yes he did indeed. I made another mistake, the Germans did not connect the Enigma's plugboard in an alphabetical order. An A to B connection would not be allowed .

Explain how they would cancel out? Its 6! multiplied by 10!. Thats like saying multiplying by 6 and 2 cancels them out rather than making 12. Factorial is just an operation to help out with calculations of combinations

+TrueGamerX14 by 26! it is not 26^26 it is 26x25x24x23x22x21 all the way to 1 because once a letter or rotor is used it cannot be used again
