i do work in new buildings, commercial and residential. i have seen so many
major water leaks in these buildings that go almost completely without
repair. the truth is these buildings have deadlines set by the new owners
and no job supervisor i have ever seen would let a water leak stop them
from making that deadline. rather than repair the water damage they just
cover it up. even the most high end apartment buildings are not immune to
this, and in my experience they are actually more likely as the building
uses more expensive material and has more complicated building designs.
