+BobEckert56 Bah.Are you old enough to remember how bad US autos were in the 1970s and 1980s?They aren't suddenly good now because union workers decided to care about their work. It's job-stealing automation (aka robots) that make them so good.
And if we hadn't broken up the Bell System it would still be free and people who provided it would have kept their jobs. Deregulation always costs more and costs jobs in ANY INDUSTRY. This is why companies want it so bad, freedom to lay us off and charge us at the same time on a race to the bottom.
+MysticInvestigations "back when the government ... treated the citizens, ... as Kings"Back when the phrase "you can't fight City Hall" was invented? That "way back when"??"Now we're just slaves to be ... drained of wealth"Are you too young to remember how expensive phone service was 30 (EDIT: 35) years ago? Long distance calls were $2.00/minute. Microwave ovens were expensive back then. And PCs! Three thousand dollars!!!And who's holding a gun to your head saying that you must have a cell phone, cable TV, high speed internet, and multiple TVs.Life is more expensive because we have more stuff, and that stuff needs to be paid for.
That was back when the government, and corporations actually treated the citizens, and consumers as Kings to be respected, and served. Now we're just slaves to be commanded, and drained of wealth by the God like corporations, and the government they control.
