What buddhist ever perceived themselves stabbing another human as just "a
play of phenomena"? The only time buddhists kill people is over territorial
and ideological conflicts with muslims and militant hindus in western and
central Asia. Their attitude is the opposite of "a play of phenomena" -
they have very well defined, personal resentment against their enemies. So
his critique applies to literally NO ONE.
Fucking hell...how can anyone sit through this guy speaking like that? Not
to mention he looks like he ran away from some primitive Euro psych ward
and somehow made it to Toronto. "Cultural critic." Screw off and get a real
job. Do yourselves a favour and take advice from people who actually
present themselves like reasonable, well to do humans who have "their shit
together."
+Sam Soda - Gee, Sam, you have embarrassed yourself. Take a look at Zizek's bibliography, and research a little: there's a world-wide community of scholars and students who understand and appreciate his learning. He speaks/reads Serbian, English, French, German - some Latin and ancient Greek - and can discuss in depth the history of philosophy.
+Dustin Yx. These are some of the ones I remember him discussing. Not entirely sure if they're right, but they're worth reading nonetheless:The Bhagavad Gita - UnknownZen and Japanese Culture - D.T. SuzukiBeing No One - Thomas MetzingerMind Time - Benjamin LibetYou can also check out Zizek's book Less Than Nothing, where he talks more about these topics
Zizek, his greatness and (perhaps) weakness is that he tells a wonderful
well articulated story, which never quite reaches a point, yet nearly
discovers a moral ending that always seemed common concept anyway. I
reaffirm my thoughts but do not expand them in this.
You have given one of the best answers to the Zizek question I've ever read. Zizek excels at combining seemingly unrelated historical and current events with high theory in a way that opens us up to our ideologically blind spots. Thanks for your insight. Peace!
