Tesla Motors Model S: Rated Range at 33,000 Miles TESLARATI.com
While the car only charged to 201 miles (209 was original delivery mileage), after calculating out the distance I went, and then factoring in Watts per mile before I ...
Nothing, the screens reboot. Car keeps operating. The driving portion is independent, so if the Center Console or the Dash crashes, they will just reboot and come back online.
+KmanAuto I think it's inevitable that the Model S, like other Electronic Gadgets, will be hacked to the point of an entirely 3rd party OS being available. It's been proven over and over again that no commercial entity can come close to the quality and feature set that open source developers can make for free. Cibucle dwellers who do just barely enough to get paid don't cut the mustard compared to people who live for it and don't care about the money. Not to mention, paying thousands of dollars for stuff the car is already capable of, it's just been handicapped by remote control until you pay the ransom... If it pisses people off enough to do something about it on a $200 phone, you can be damn sure it'll happen on a $100,000 car. It's jsut being marketed to an installed base of clueless rich people who can't work on anything becasue they've never done a minute of honest work in their lives. Once it gets into the hands of more honest people, the walls will come down whether Elon likes it or not. This is why he played this angle... He knows it's going to happen, but by putting it in all the wrong peoples' hands for way too much money, he delays the inevitable and funds the Model 3E or whatever it is now...
Charging? Worked like normal. Overall stability of the car? a 2 out of 10. Haven't been happy with the firmware updates lately. 5.9 was very good, and only thing it needed was the charge current reduction "feature" (Pain in the Effing ass) removed. Currently, 5.11 crashes regularly and needs the console rebooted. Charge errors, Maps not displaying charging locations properly, they removed Fan Speed 11 and limited it to 10, and 7 on range instead of 8, the Full charge calculation algorithem is getting WORSE then ever in terms of accuracy. I'd like them to put me back on my original firmware (4.5 I think it was) for a day or so, just to see what the big differences were.In my opinion, stability was perfect on 4.5. The ONLY thing I would have changed on 4.5 was when they upgraded the Supercharging speed for my 60pack from 70kW to 105kW. Other then that, I would have liked to STAY on 4.5
