Mittal can just walk off. Somebody else will come along. People will get
jobs somewhere else. As long as the unions make sure that to operate in
France, you need to pay wages that have no relationship to wages in India
or China, the new fat cat will take that into account. It worked in the
50's in the US. People paid higher wages, made less money. But they made
money. Now they want to make more money. that's the problem. Mittal won't
be bankrupt. He'll just have to settle for less profits
Greed never ends, like extortion. Once the government start giving people
more than they are worth, the direction is set for failure. Could take
years, but eventually the chickens come home to roost. Workers should start
their own plant if they think the owners are rich and unfair. Let the
workers not feed of others initiatives. This is the trouble with Socialism.
Eventually Socialist governments run out of other peoples money. That is
happening all over Europe. A reset is coming.
For the last 200 yrs we have been the engine of the World economy. We have
helped more countries than any other, in history. Even our former enemies.
Even China, who will probably over take us. Only because we have spent our
fortunes protecting ungrateful and greedy nations, have we started decline.
We were the policeman of the World. We bailed out South America many times,
plus, Germany, France, and Japan. Wait and see how the World like China and
Russian terms for bail outs?
"You can't have French workers doing the same job for 6-7 times the wages
of Chinese or Indian workers." Actually you can. You just can't have free
trade, but it's a reasonable sacrifice. The French and others like them
just have to decide that they can't have cheap chinese products everywhere,
but that they have to pay a little more. If the Chinese or indian's don't
pay their workers, raise tariffs on their goods. French goods wont sell in
China or India anyway.
So, if you are so smart and valuable, start your own company. Why don't
you? To hard, too risky, to dangerous, Why? You can work 60 or 70 hours a
week. That should help you make money? You can go through government red
tape to get a business started? All the regulations and environmental
regulations. You can do that. So work for yourself, make a lot of money. Be
a greedy person like these owners. It is easy, right?
They have to pay a little more? Lol. People won't think twice to shop else
where if your shop is just slightly more expensive than the other one. No
one gives a damn even if the other one bought its goods from criminals. If
you raise the tariffs, the world will turn on France. Beside, EU doesn't
lack workers that are cheaper than French workers anyways. Squeeze the fat
cats hard enough, they will just head east.
You are funny. French products are competing against the world; everyone is
competing against the world now. You can't have French workers doing the
same job for 6-7 times the wages of Chinese or Indian workers. Companies
simply won't survive in France. There are always jobs, companies,
investments exist, but they will be much smaller than what would have been.
So if we listen to you, the only option france has is to keep mittal, so
that their wages can go the way of india and china. if that's the choice,
then france should just tell mittal to fuck off, cause that's not a
reasonable option. and please, lol some more. it gives your arguments a
certain kind of weight.
Anyone watches the video would think that the French workers are
demonstrating because of the of the government threat to privatize Mital's
assets when they are actually demonstrating because the government made a
U-turn in their promise to nationalize the steel factory
lol. All we have left over here is the dow jones. If the stock exchange
goes kaput, the entire country is out of a job. No thanks to our corporate
masters putting all the national asset eggs in one big gambling basket.
Fuel prices at record levels, but yet Oil is at a 7 month low, man we are
getting so screwed...

POLICE CLASH WITH SYDNEY UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
A policewoman was injured during a clash with protesters at the University of Sydney today as students voiced their opposition to staff job cuts. Video posted on ...
Small wonder with all the brain-dead posters around (on both sides of the
argument to be frank). Hardly makes for a constructive conversation. Also,
was sick of getting email notifications on my phone all the time.. Yes, it
was annoying enough for me to consider taking the video down. Anyways,
whilst we may strongly disagree on this you are probably the most eloquent
and constructive posters out of those giving negative feedback. I would
probably side with you if I hadn't seen it first hand..
Some girl pig doofed it up and managed to get her arm broken. hahahah,
After watching all that wrist bending the pigs were doing, all I can say is
she gots what she deserved. Police are dictionary definition criminals.
Anyone thought that the protestors have a point and the UN I admins should
be the ones kicked out? Crown land stolen by nothing but common theives,
still being stolen today not 200 years ago. You cant put lipstick on a pig
and call it something else. Thieves are thieves..
Our direct action represents the anger of thousands of working people and
students being treated like rubbish by millionaire managers. If standing up
for ourselves means doing something the cops don't like so be it. It
wouldn't be the first time the cops were fighting on the wrong side. We all
saw them try and smash a picket line of Baida chicken workers fighting for
a minimum wage in Vic. They say cut back- We say fight back!
The only hostility and aggression came from the police. Things were
otherwise very peaceful up until that point. I don't agree with them trying
to enter the building, but they didn't do any harm, they didn't break
anything, the kids at the doorway didn't shout at the police or anything
like that. All they did is stand at a doorway and link arms. The rest you
have filled in with your imagination.
The police were called in long before the protest even began, as attested
by the Vice Chancellor's email to staff that very morning. The police were
there from the time the protest started - it started in a completely
different part of the campus and then marched on to the Darlington Centre.
And what law did they break? Standing at the doorway of an office building
on their own campus? A publicly accessible space I remind you, not Fort
Knox. Obstructing at a doorway for 30 seconds? Does that deserve the
freakin' riot police. What a load of bollocks ..
Agreed. Likewise bringing in the riot police was disgraceful. The
university made a huge mistake there. Lets rough up a bunch of kids for
standing at the doorway to one of their campus building for 30 seconds.
Completely disproportional response.
Crown land stolen by nothing but common theives, still being stolen today
not 200 years ago. You cant put lipstick on a pig and call it something
else. Thieves are thieves..
Police were there to stop angry protestors disturbing the meeting. They
have the right to be on University ground. Students don't own the
University you moron.
