Businesses thrive because people have money to spend. People with disposable income are job creators. If you impose below subsistence wages on a broad segment of workers, then I hope your business depends on selling only bare necessities. Taxes on corporations and the wealthy are at historic lows. Corporate profit is very high, and the share of income that labor receives is very low. The Walton family isn't worth as much as the poorest 40%. Read Chris Hedges' Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt.

The minimum wage needs to be raised further. Businesses should be regulated, because they can cause harm to people and the environment by irresponsible behavior. Why should they be allowed to endanger workers or dump toxic waste? Places with higher minimum wages almost always have better economies, largely because one person's spending is other person's income. Unfortunately many conservatives are too stupid to see past their own selfish whims. The lives of other people don't register with them.

By what magic do you think it comes to pass that everybody is paid what they are "worth"? Most businesses pay as little as they can, and generally hire people as a last resort. A fundamental dysfunction is caused by maldistribution of income and wealth. When a few have most of the money, there is insufficient demand to provide employment opportunities for a broad range of people. You might want to learn some macroeconomics before asserting your opinion as fact. Harsh poverty is a policy choice.

We don't have socialize healthcare for these reasons. One, we can't be compared to other countries, we are way too different. A very small example, Canada borders on country and it happens to be the richest in the world. The US borders two countries and one is crime ridden Mexico. That does play into affect along with other variables. A more important reason is because why can't we be different? Why can't we try to work at developing something better? Oh, I forgot, liberals don't like to work.

Taxes are at historic high. Money has to have value. If you pay someone $15/hr to do dishes at Denny's then $15 isn't worth much. Now if you take money in a form of a tax and give it to people who produce nothing in welfare then that money is worthless. It has no value anymore. Basic economics, supply and demand. I demand money, a person with money will supply it to me if I do some work for them. That give money value. Now I can demand food but instead I demand money. Doing something like.....

That means I can demand money and instead of working hard and gaining a skill or even working on strict hours I instead choose to do a job of less work and responsibility but yet still get paid the same. If you force businesses to pay those jobs more off of a min. wage increase you increase the cost of living and those low skill jobs see the cost of living go up with wages stagnate. This is all fact. People get paid the wages they do because they are worth that much. In our society this is how it is set up. There is no reason why a high schooler should get paid a lot do wash dishes.

And what's even more amusing to me is: why do other countries that have adopted a more socialized healthcare reform (like our neighbors to the north) and it works. How could that be? .....low skill low wage jobs but they require stricter hours with more responsibility like factory or warehouse work. They provide a "livable" wage. Then you have high skill high wage jobs. Jobs the require an advance skill you gain through training, schooling or work experience. They pay a nice wage to where you can own better things. Businesses are not dumb. Why do you think they pay CEOs millions, because they sit there and predict what is going to happen. Obamacare is going to cost them too much money so a factory closed down and moved to China in my hometown. But hey, this is what Obama wanted. .....need flexible hours. Those jobs are done by people who live in a household that is well off and doesn't need another person working a min. wage job to make a living. Also, those jobs keep the price of necessary goods and services low so middle class families can survive. You remove that section of the workforce you hurt the economy. That is a fact. The town I am attending college at just cut the wages and fired some postal workers due to Obamacare. They won't be able to afford it so they just cut wages. Why do you think businesses like Denny's are going to cut hours? They simply can't afford it. It must be great to live in a bubble but when something affects you personally then you see what is true and what is just talk.
