+Violet Sam I studied everyday using whatever resources were available (EK, Kaplan...etc) and I completed and focused ot understand as much practice problems as I could. The week before the exam was allocated to doing full lengths....but again, this is the old MCAT not the new one.

can someone tell me if my score is okay? I am not a traditional pre-med. I got my mcat result, and I think its pretty good for someone that didnt have a science background in university. My score was 474 , which is like 92% out of 532. Is that good? I know I didnt get the minimum but my score isnt horrible..right? lol

+Liz Kelly Terrible. 503-514 is the range you should be in. Unless you consider the Caribbean. I don't even want to ask you for your GPA. Ever think of law school?

My suggestion is study real hard, you don't have to be a genius to take the mcat and do well, but it does require a certain amount of intelligence/ determination. If you take the mcat again and again getting higher scores each time, it shows the med school that you are trying, and you are determined and serious about getting a medical education. Good luck

To have a competitive score you would have needed to score a 512.. Honestly getting the lowest score possible does not look good, and especially if you choose to apply to a MD school. People that usually get a lower score apply to DO schools, but if you apply with a 472 it would look like you do not care to try again. Average mcat score is a 500 and a low score but still possible to get into med school would be around 490.

I admire your calm nature ... I am a post-bac nurse getting ready to take the MCAT in 2016 and I am a hot mess, you'd think I'd mellow w/age, but no, I still need to learn to keep calm ... thanks for sharing your experiences with us, helps me to chill, hope everything works out for you! Not necessarily. And as we mention above, science recall and basic science understanding are merely prerequisites for the MCAT. We also find that MCAT test takers often start their preparation quite fresh from covering these topics in the classroom. For both these reasons, Kaplan instruction is focused on the problem-solving aspects of the test (these Fast Fact videos are provided as backup).
