Uhh I don't know if YOU know anything about rat behavior as that is 100% NOT what the rat was doing. He was trying to find somewhere to hide. He was out in the open and not feeling comfortable and was kind of freaking out. Rats feel more comfortable when they are hidden as they are prey animals. They don't have very good vision either so the rat thought that guy was a stationary object and he tried to climb it to get up high. He was not looking for a "friend" and the rat is very obviously wild as the coloring is most common in wild rats.

+Savannah Stanley I doubt it is :) (I can't say though, I never trained my rats. They're only a teeny bit more than a month)
My rats can jump!
I got a big cardboard box today and thought of using it for my pet rats (Remy and Emile) before throwing it away. I found out they are quite good jumpers!!
can you help me convince my dad and mum into letting me get them.. im
starting to help around the house alot more and im trying to work for the
money the job will be something like dog walker or watcher cause im 13 in
january but my mums a little stuck up if you get what i mean.. she hates
the idea of rodents.. i got a hamster about a year ago and she hated him
too .. now she loves him. im gonna take all the resposiblity and clean them
weekly get them every thing in other words :D
It's been almost 5 years so I think the rats have already aged and died.
Anyways, I've owned rats over and over again and if you train them when
they are young, they can jump as far as 1 meter... and as high as .5 meter.
I've managed to teach a few to jump towards a rope (string) and swing for a
while then climb up to a platform. They usually do it just for fun.
Teaching rats to swim and float is way more difficult.
Fool. Rats love playing! And they love human contact. They are naturally
extremely agile at jumping and fantastic climbers. Though I think maybe
they should've let them out the box sooner rather than keep putting them
back... but they were not distressed. A rat in distress would usually send
out a distress call via a lot of squeaking.
LOL, I was starting to think my rat was gifted in high jumping! I see now
that other rats do it too lol! It just came off as strange to me when my
rat jumped when I first got her because my rat I had b4 never jumped, let
alone right out of his aquarium! She can jump out of the bathtub too, so
now bath time is more of a struggle lol.
BINGO! I am a huge PIXAR fan but I have been wanting to have rats for more
than 20 years! I studied a lot for long time and am having a fun time with
them every day. I was amazed to find out rats don't need much care. They
don't stink and I wash the cage only once a week. They are wonderful pets.
They are so cute, I have about a 3 1/2 foot tall cage and my 4 older
ratties can launch from the bottom to the top shelf with no problem, but my
2 younger ones have yet to make it that far. I really love your adorable
ratties, they are so cute, I want some just like them to add to my family =)
