@bettyskitchen 1. Clean the skillet immediately after use, while it is
still hot or warm. (Avoid soaking the pan or leaving it in the sink, or it
may rust.) 2. Wash the skillet by hand using hot water and a sponge or
stiff brush. (Avoid using the dishwasher, soap, or steel wool, as these may
strip the pan's seasoning.) 3. To remove stuck-on food, scrub the pan with
a paste of Kosher salt and water. Stubborn food residue may also be
loosened by boiling water in the pan. cont.
@anique0320 Honestly, I do wash my cast iron skillet in hot water with some
soap because it is so old (probably about 75 years) and has such a strong
layer of seasoning built up that it can handle soap and water. Still, I
would never let it soak in water and right after washing I dry it off
carefully. I found these instructions that say what exactly what I believe
and will continue in another reply--
I am making this for Sunda Dinner with my parents tomorrow, Can't wait it
looks so yummy. I hope its a hit because it sure looks like one. I love
your recipes and the ease and simplicity of how you explain how to prepare
meals. The best thing is that everything that you cook with is easyily
purchased and implemented, thank you for challenging me to be a better cook!
I've been watching your video's ever since, and I've got to say that you &
Rick are simply a "class act". I would rather watch yours, than anybody
elses' on TV! Thank you both for sharing your life, home, family, TIME, and
wonderful recipes with us! I, for one, am very grateful to you both. Keep
up the great work Betty & Rick! :) Lynn.
wow, betty, this looks so good! what a nice new idea for chicken and pasta.
i never would have thought of it on my own. can't wait to try it... i've
already added the video to my favorite list, so i can refer back to later.

missed u! :)
Hi Betty, I am a little late but Congrats on your anniversary. My hubby and
I are about to celebrate our 23rd Anniversary. I agree that it is nice to
see that not all marriages end :) This looks wonderful, and I sure will try
it. My hubby and I are eating more healthy these day so Thank you for
posting this!
Yes, that's my kind of dish. Looks yummy! I really should think about
starting an herb garden in our house. We have long winters here in Canada
and it would be nice to have access to fresh herbs. Only thing is that I am
not very good with gardening, actually I'm pretty horrible.
Thanks Betty. Another awesome way to make Chicken :-) I'll be making this
for dinner tomorrow :-) I also received your new cookbook "The
Bettyskitchen Collection" today and it's wonderful. Thanks for broadening
my repertoire of recipes and improving my cullinary skills x
Great recipe & great lead-in/instructions. FYI, to add though, the pan
stickings on the bottom of the pan from your browned chicken is called
'Fond", a French term. (A main ingredient/flavoring) for gravies "gratins"
i.e.American casseroles & braised meats. Great Job!
@bettyskitchen 4. Thoroughly towel dry the skillet or dry it on the stove
over low heat. 5. Using a cloth or paper towel, apply a light coat of
vegetable oil or melted shortening to the inside of the skillet. Some
people also like to coat the outside. --Betty :)
do you wash chicken before cooking i am never sure about this ...........
my family from briton says you should and my on laws from barbadoes wash it
and cover it with lemon because of the heat in canada i did not think we
needed too wash it?
Omg that looks delicious I really want to make this but I'm afraid to make
meat I don't want to under cook anything. Would baking it help if the
chicken is a little under cooked after its taken out of the skillet?
I have a question...they say your not suppose to submerge your cast iron
skillet in soapy water to clean it, because you skillet won't be seasoned
anymore...So how do you clean your cast iron skillet?
@lidsman2221 Rick here--I don't feel knowledgeable enough to do justice to
a review. There's no shortage of information on the net about it, though.
Let's just say it's all the camera I feel I need.
Wanted to say Happy Anniversary to you and Rick!! Parents are celebrating
their 45th in Richmond area, is there somewhere you'd suggest? They've
never been there, they're coming from Ohio (Loveland)
Betty, I love your videos... You give me so many cooking ideas! And I love
how you personally thanked me in my comments when I subscribed to you so
long ago! Thank you for helping make cooking fun!
Rick, Can you please do a review of your camera? I would love to check it
out and see what your thoughts are. Betty, Can you please do a review of
the cookbooks that Rick gave you? Thanks!
wow that chicken came out perfect! Thats no easy feat considering small
pieces can burn quickly on you! I LOVE that outfit btw-very nice and
slimming! Looks nice with your hair i think.
thanks Betty, I also will be doing this tonight. I was going to do a
chicken dish anyway, but this looks good. we aren't doing grains right now
but I'll have a veggie side instead.
