ask them what background check provider they use. If they use a cheap one,
or Checkpoint, again RUN. Write about 12 license plate numbers down and go
to the DMV and have them ran using the anticipation of litigation purpose
under the DPPA exemption list, then go to the courthouse and run a criminal
search on the car owners last and first name. Make friends with the
maintance, and help them when they are fixing something in your apartment,
and ask how long have they worked in the complex.
@eschnoid I did and nowhere does it talk about Austin Energy! It does say
any modifications rather authorized or not become the apartments upon move
out. I am a gun owner and if those enviro thugs come by, they will be
ordered to leave or taste lead. I guess you don't mind the New World Order,
or you are being sarcastic is your statement. I am off to protest smoking
ban in San Antonio in a couple of weeks, and film police given the tickets.
I hope I get beat up so I can sue them.
It all depends on the apartment. Tips: If the windows are not double pane
or more don't rent from them, you are expecting a problem. Look at the
Police Departments Blotter page, many have them, find a location with the
least amount of Police calls. Watch the body langauge of the staff at the
leasing office, if they rush you, RUN. If the place has a creek behind you
or wooded area, that is a plus as it is quieter than the rest. Find one
that does a lot of screening and

@willdav713 - you may have signed a lease with the apartment managers, and
that may bind you into an agreement with Austin Energy. I'm living in an
apartment right now, with one of those crappy thermostats and that's why I
wanted to know what happens. I can see you have tin-foil hats to make so
I'll be leavin ya be. Just don't forget to let me know when the jack-booted
environment thugs come bashing into your place and take you off to Gitmo.
Thanks, ya freak.
@eschnoid Nothing will happen if Austin Energy realizes my node is offline.
It is done on MY PROPERTY. THEY WILL NOT COME IN WITHOUT A WARRANT OR THEY
WILL BE SORRY! I didn't sign any agreement with Austin Energy allowing
this. The prior owner had this thermostat, not me. I still have that POS.
and I might reinstall it upon moveout. I threw away the halogen light bulbs
they installed in the trash! ALGORE SUCKS!
I'm not interested in your politics, or whatever motivation you had to do
this outside of being able to not cook alive in your own apartment - what I
want to know is what is going to happen to you when Austin Energy realizes
your node is now offline. Please post a follow-up and let us all know if
you got pegged for going "anti-communist" here. Thanks, man.
