Such memories like the 1966 World Series and so many other things things,
this place did have a certain style about it that can't be captured in the
newer parks. I love Camden Yards but all those wonderful memories are here,
all those glory years. Just think of all the athletes that played here for
Baltimore and all those from visiting teams. The Robinsons, Unitas, Cal,
Eddie, Matte, Macke, Palmer, Boog, I could go on and on, Weaver, Shula,
Bauer, the voices Thompson, O'Donnell, Barney.
When baseball was not as rigged as it is now! Yankees buy their way into
the playoffs, what, 17 of the last 18 years or something and play, what, 80
playoff games or something since the Orioles last Peter AngeLOSE
appearance? So what if they don't win the World Series every time. Why is
NY in the playoffs every time: money, no salary cap, and MLB's insistance
on there being one showcase team that everyone either loves or hates. This
brings in more money for baseball. YANKEES CHEAT!
that was when baseball was at its best.. family entertainment the love of
the game... i agree new stadium has no soul.... shame they have to one time
i went with my folks to a game and getting on the elevator man got off my
mom says u know that was brooks robinson.... memories that cant replace...
Nice to see a stadium without ads plastered on every freaking inch of
space: behind homeplate, in the dugout, on the dugout rails, all over the
outfield. What's next, they going to start selling ad space on batting
helmets? Sorry, I just had to rant :)
that is true. it could be because they are not winning these days. I did
see memorial when I was young. never got to touch or feel the excitement of
it though. Camden is a lovely stadium but just as you said it's not there
anymore.
@centuryrox ---absolutely. people went to the games that were really into
baseball, the teams were always subperb, until mid/late 80s. and how cheap
the seats were. great memories, even w/ all the obstructed view seats
From '86 to"89, went to a ton of O's games when I lived in Westminster. The
old stadium has a special place in my heart even though I grew up outside
of Pittsburgh. Nice old school film.
God I miss that place!! Never had a better time at any sports venue. Say
what you want about the new stadiums, but you just can't beat the
atmosphere at old Memorial Stadium.
a real shame that they didnt preserve part of this stadium, or at least a
facade. The site currently has an ugly, poorly designed YMCA , and much of
the rest is vacant.
Baltimore's Memorial Stadium was demolished in 2002. This drive around the ballpark was filmed in January 2000. Brought to you by deadballbaseball.com ...
