It is an attempt to distract customers from the fact that the D5 development hasn't been finished, yet.Something like a D5s or just maybe a firmware update with 29:59 recording time will proof, that I am right here.

+Ralf Baechle You may be right :) I am saying that maybe because I am primarily a stills guy, I do not shoot weddings, I shoot air shows and concerts, do it primarily for myself,, hence my judgement may be biased, since I look at it through my set of cognitive filters. No hard feelings on anyone here :)

Weight constraints mean it's impractical to carry another piece of kit just for 4K video.Anyway, still photography and video are converging more and more and Nikon does know that. Which makes me think Matt's theory that Nikon might remove the restriction or charge for a feature upgrade might be not too far off.

+Matt Granger Indeed, as I said, should I be doing more videos, I would probably buy something else than the D5. You have a point though - why put a 4k functionality on a camera, if it is not fully usable, or, when the usability is quite limited.

I think that's for the individual to decide and there is FAR more variation than many seem to realise.

+fandi1770 Hi fandi, if you're shooting video i would just get the 50mm 1.8G, it has autofocus so you can use it easily for stills as well. Besides that it's just newer, weather sealed and in my opinion newer is often better. Also, when buying a zoom lens it's important to know whether you aperture is CONSTANT or not. the 18-105mm doesn't have a constant aperture, it's maximum aperture is 3.5 at 18mm and 5.6 at 105mm. Cheaper lenses tend to have variable (opposite of constant) apertures more often, you can recognize them by the '-' in between the two maximum aperture numbers of a lens: 18-105mm 3.5-5.6 or 70-300mm 4-5.6. More expensive lenses like a 24-70mm 2.8 have a CONSTANT aperture, meaning it is 2.8 even at 70mm

+eric ribeiro mendez I use the 50mm 1.8D, Auto-Focus isn't all that important. You'll want to be taking your pictures in manual focus anyway.

It varies depending on your sensor, on some bodies it'll be equivalent to a 85mm and others, 75mmcompared to a Full-Frame sensor...But i've got used to work my way around it :)

A 50mm lens on a Nikon DX camera will be like a 75mm lens on a full frame camera.

Agreed. Sims 3 is the best sims ever (in my opinion) because it was so random and crazy. You never knew what was going to happen next but the sims 4 is just the same thing over and over again
