We review about 100 cars a year here at CNET, but only a handful reset the bar each year. Brian Cooley rounds up the five highest-rated tech cars of 2013.
the only exception here is the Jeep Grand Cherokee .. but the rest of those
German Cars !! i don't know i would really like to hear it from a real
owners how good these cars are .. forget about all the Media advertisement
.. i need to hear it from real people so far all i hear that maintaining
them are not cheap at all from oil change to the front head light bulb ..
so buying expensive is something not counting the expensive service after
buying is another story should be counted for
I have 3 Audi's and as they are about as expensive to buy as a comparable BMW, MB or Lexus. However my Audi's have been very dependable and all but one has over 100K on them, (one has over 260K). Oil changes, (which I do myself) are no different and on my A6 have had $620 or repair costs in 108,000 miles. The "older" German cars did have higher maint. and repair costs but I have been very pleased with my Audi's, (as well as my Aunt 2013 A6, wife, 2011 TT and father with his 2005 A8L.In my A6, (which is 2005) have never replaced a light bulb and I still have the original battery. The fit and finish and quality of materials keep these cars looking great many years later. To me, it's worth the extra cost if you drive as much as I do.
Tesla isn't German. It's an American built car. And since there's not as many parts in an electric car compared to a gas combustion car, there's also less maintenance.
I dont understand why having a big screen in Tesla replace all the buttons
is a good idea. When you drive and reach to turn on your heated seat - you
do it without looking at it very much because you can feel the button. Or
When you want to change AC settings - same way. You do those things with
virtually no distraction. With touch screen interface, you must look at
what you are doing much more, keeping your eyes off the road longer. Same
could go for many other features people use on daily basis. Then, you have
to switch between interfaces to access certain options, which takes even
more time. And if there is a lag, it could be a serious distraction.
Doesn't feel like a such a safe way to go. Its more of a toy that is less
practical, which is fine. But don't really understand why it gets praised
so much. And I certainly don't agree with Jeep having a great navigation
interface. Rented it for a week and the navigation unit looked so cluttered
and low quality, that we ended up using a cell phone. And it wasn't that
intuitive to use. At least compared to the mercedes unit that we use often.
you'd be surprised how easy it gets after a little practice, it (the touch screen) is very fast to use because all your basic commands are always visible at the bottom of the screen, and all your other things (suspension raising, regenerative braking etc) are only one touch and a slide away. I had the privelege of driving one for a day, and by the end, it wasn't a problem at all!
Tesla gets it. I think automakers are going about tech in cars wrong. Every
car going forward should have a large touchscreen and be able to pair with
your smartphone. I'm not big on my car having apps. I just want a screen my
device can take advantage of. I've seen cars with tablets like the Nexus 7
installed in the dash. To me that provides a better user experience than
what's available from your favorite automobile OEM. Leave the UI to the
companies that specialize in software and stick to doing what you do best.
Seems like adding more than 1,200Hp to a GTR is counterproductive.
When the 1,200Ho GTR easily beat the 1,840hp gtr.
Every car has its limits i guess.
+Stephen Bagnell A 1400 hp GTR vs a 1400 hp Mustang,, the GTR will walk that mustang hard, that racing channel recently posted a twin turbo Chevy making 1400 hp vs a 1100 hp GTR watch?v=jXDs-zbv2Cw
On dragtimes? The fastest cars at Unlim 500+ are Lambos and GT-Rs. This ain't the states or drag week. And mustangs don't usually do well in the standing mile.
+Stephen Bagnell Please. There are GT-Rs in the states running 7's and trapping over 185mph with that type of power in the states. If you saw any of the texas events 1200whp GT-Rs were getting walked by the bigger power GT-Rs as they should be so making some dumb comment generalizing and no providing a proper counter argument is retarded.
If you look at the end speed the car making more power let off. It's not that adding that much power is counter productive, it's that there may have been an issue. It's interesting because the GT-Rs making that much power in the US are not having issues like that and running much better.

I just watched your Kia Sportage video which is one of my favourite cars.
You barely found anything wrong with it and it didn't make your top 10.
That doesn't make any sense!
Few cars we cant even get in Australia which is unusual since we have the
largest range anywhere in the world....which has sadly along with a rubbish
gov killed our local car industry. My current fav car, one i dont think you
can get in Ireland, the Ford Falcon G6E LPi Gas engine. final version :'(
being brought out Nov this year. btw isnt this top 10 really a top 10 of
2013 cars?
Subaru Ireland don't really have cars on the fleet for testing. Also they don't have any contact with me. I've tried a few times but I don't think they can be bothered, shame because I always like their cars.
