People want to be sexually attractive instinctually because that's what gets you laid. If you study biology, you'll understand quickly that in nature, everything is about sex. Being attractive does not devalue you. Being attractive adds an other quality to the ones you already have. Yes, there are some characters that have nothing but sex in mind, but if you're kind, noble, brave, compassionate, intelligent and generous and on top of that you're attractive, your qualities don't spontaneously dissapear because of your attractiveness. And if choosing to create a character that is "sexy" is bad, then what's the alternative? Have every single female character be fat, full of zits and look like she didn't wash in a month? And if crating an attractive female character is bad, then doing so for male characters should be as well. Having a double standard is sexist and wrong.And besides, the "male power fantasy" image, I don't even find it attractive, so no it isn't this ultimately positive thing.

I don't understand why a "male power fantasy" would be okay, but not a female beauty or sexiness fantasy? I'm not unappealing at all, but I feel uncomfortable in sexualised clothing because that's just the way I am and my personnal discomforts. I admire people who can wear these clothes and feel comfortable and proud in them. I wouldn't take away an other person's right to dress sexy and act sexy just because I am not capable of doing the same thing.Either nobody can look sexualised regardless of gender (which is absurd oppressive totalitarian logic and should never happen), or everyone should be free to wear whatever they want and do what they want with their sex life, as long as it's consentual between the people involved.

It really is a particular portrayal that has had people up in arms.  What makes it worse, and why complaining about a single bad issue makes sense, is how this was pushed.  The New 52 was pushed as a reboot for new readers that didn't want to get into the huge continuity of older comics.  This was not only the destruction of a character, this was an attempted introduction of a character to a larger audience.

I haven't read the particular issue, so I guess if you are going to pin point it as different I will take your word for it. Pretty bad that people can destroy a characters image like that :/

+DeepFried OreoYou may be correct in her historical portrayal, but that just isn't how she's portrayed in the comic they were complaining about.  A character can be sexual without being a problem.  That's just not how (they?  I think the piece of shit that was that comic was one guy being awful at writing, and one or more being on the same page of sex appeal being why Starfire is there) wrote her.Have you read Red Hood and the Outlaws #1?  Its bad enough that the often baseless "feminist" complaints are actually pretty spot-on.

She asks for sex because she want's it, and if she is bored she has time, clearly :) You misunderstand the use of "confidence" here. It's not just that she is confident in herself, but she is confident in what she wants, and knows other people's opinions wont tear her down. Male super heroes that will take focus away from their mission to stare at chicks, they are sluts. Starfire not only has her priorities in check, but also knows exactly what she wants :) Why make that seem like a bad thing?

+BronyGamer The word 'slut' comes from a long evolutionary line of terms coined BY women to create appearances about other women they feel threatened by. "That other women is able to flirt with guys and not feel embarrassed, or get nervous!? I bet she has so much sex! She's such a slut!" Men do this too, I am not trying to isolating women here, rather trying to explain the though process behind why they all deny this fact, in similar situation.

+SnowScales To be fair, Starfire IS pretty awful in the New 52. Her introduction in it is a boob joke, followed by a guy saying that he's been 'with' her. That action scene is followed by her in a string bikini, that actually was censored because the original was more transparent and showing a nipple. Those complaints have nothing to do with her personality though...Instead of the extreme loyalty, Starfire apparently doesn't even remember her team mates, including her ex-boyfriend. Here's some actual dialogue: "You don't remember anyone named Dick?" (Robin, her ex-boyfriend)"No""Garth? Dustin? Vic?" (more teammates she spent considerable time with)"I can't recall." "Lilith? Gar?""You are boring me." (Yes, he is "boring her" by asking about those people that she was part of the teen titans with)"Um, Jason's over there talking to himself.""And we're here. Do you want to have sex with me?"Linkara (Atop the 4th Wall) compared her to a sexual goldfish. Sadly, the "I'm bored, show me your penis" shouldn't be this accurate to the actual dialogue in the New 52. (Specifically, this is Red Hood and the Outlaws #1) Her costume isn't great, but her personality is the damning aspect of that comic.

Social Security and Medicare are NOT entitlements. We as a nation have an ethical and moral obligation to protect out most neediest population: indigent, elderly, children and disabled. Instead of looking of ways to cut social security and Medicare, the U.S should look at ways on how to save money and provide by for our indigent. This includes costly wars, and a greedy legislative branch who frequently get into bed with corporate lobbyist. He would feel otherwise if he was poor and disabled. 

Interestingly on his bar graph "sharing the pie" in 1960 elderly received 8.7x more benefit while in 2011 elderly received 6.5x more benefit so a relatively the children are catching up, despite increased nominal values.
