Should you convert your FujiX100T RAW files to DNG in Lightroom
I go over a few things to consider if you're thinking of converting your camera RAW files to lightroom DNG files. I explain why I won't be converting my Fuji X100T ...
One consideration is that each camera format uses different RAW types.
Longevity of each of these is not always guaranteed. EG if Canon or Nikon
bite the dust, the ability to change these files may be lost with future
programs. DNG is trying to become more mainstream to get rid of this
language barrier.
Secondly, Raw files can be corrupted over time as well. Thats why it is
important to have several backup to make sure data isnt corrupted over
time.
Does the RAW file processed with Adobe DNG or Fuji RAW file converter look
different than the JPG file created by the camera? The real point is what
if you want to change the settings back. It sounds like with DNG that might
be hard if you don't know the original settings. The original RAW format
keeps that meta-data separate from what I understand.
