This is the first video of the series of tutorials I am planning to do about Linux theming and customization tutorials. Links: gnome-shell-extension-common: ...
What type of text to speech software and voice do you use?,aren't text to
speech voices copyrighted?,also what software did you use to make the
intro?. I'm a tutorial maker like you but i'm still a beginner and i intend
to use high quality text to speech voices in my tutorial videos, the best
text to speech voices i've found in a website called oddcast which has Paul
TTS voice that i intend to use on my videos and then monetize using Google
AdSense ,i would be very grateful if you answered me.
Here is what i get : stacy@s762:~$ sudo apt-get install
gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme Reading package lists... Done Building
dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not
be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation
or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages
have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following
information may help resolve the situation:
im new to ubuntu trying to convert to this from windows anyway i tryed
another theme applying this time thru the terminal and the background went

@thejoesteiger Got a couple of 'invalid extension' messages at first but I
kept re-doing it and suddenly the themes I'd downloaded started to install
and work :) Once again, thank you. Your tips have made Gnome-shell much
more exciting. Some of these themes are great. I like a Aqua. Makes the
Gnome panel look a bit like KDE.
@thejoesteiger 1:52 i followed all the instructions from your webpage and
this video, and nothing appears in this "Shell Extensions" - so, i did a
dist-upgrade to Precise Pangolin, and there is still nothing at "Shell
Extensions" - what could be going wrong on my attempts?
Thank you. I'll tried this because I'm having problems getting my themes to
work (basically, they're not working :) I miss playing with themes; so much
so, in fact, I installed Ubuntu 10.4 so I could play with the themes (I
still have Ubuntu 11.10 installed).

Open software sources manager, then check this line Community-maintained
free and open source-software(Universe) from Settings>Repositories.Come to
terminal and type this command sudo apt-get update. This should help you
install Gnome-shell.
@InitiumTV Enable it by giving it the keyboard shortcut in System Settings
> Keyboard > Shortcuts > System, its "show the run command prompt" just
double click the disabled area of it and press Alt+f2 and its ready.
@NetraAmorosi Still doesn't work, tried ALT+F2 but then the Dash Home "Run
Command" pops up and "r" doesn't work there. Also tried Shift+Alt+R but
then nothing happens, anything else I have to enable?
How come I don't have the ALT+F2 run command? Using Ubuntu 11.10 fresh
install. After a reboot I have the Advanced Tweak settings but there is
nothing in the Shell Extensions Tab. Thanks in advance.
I use Natural Reader. I haven't worried too much about them coming after me
for using the voice in my videos. You could always ask Oddcast if you are
worried about it.
good stuff. Was able to set to the default shell theme in Mint 12 like I
wanted. Don't really care for mint's default on it, but that's just my
tastes of course.
I get the error "E:Type 'Cairo-Dock-Stable' is not known on line 50 in
source list /etc/apt/sources.list'" and can't open software center or
update. Any help?
@thejoesteiger I have the Shell Extensions tab but the problem is that it
is empty, and the installation was done correctly and I didn't get any
errors.
