+ Distortions of Normality: I agree that this is true that being able to be visible as well as to self teach, self educate as well as creating the missing link of understanding and awareness of others around is also important. :)
+Distortions of Normality That is awesome. I hope that with my messages, experiences and knowledge to what I go through everyday will be an eye-opener as well as awareness for most people in my life to understand me better. Thanks. :) Great to see that you can relate a bit on some topics I may share. :)

+isaac zerke not recommended but it ends the suffering.....and MUCH better than just fucking us up on those god damn pharmaceuticals that are HIGHLY addictive (I still have issues from my younger years but as I grew older I started passively regressing) eventually I become who I am (I still struggle with stress and this past week is very good data on that, I love some music to distract me and put myself back in control) but I'll be straight with you: I STILL SUFFER, I recently got into college and found that my skills are much to crude for the situation......it's an awful challenge!

+Bob Rogers Hi :) It's where a fireplace is in many houses. On the far left you see the window, then the wall goes quite far back forming a sort of alcove before coming forwards again for a middle section where the chimney is in many old houses. So the fire is in the fireplace ;) You will probably see many other comments about other people who found the flickering of the fire quite troubling. So you are not alone. :) Regards from Tom :)
Wait... who "taught" you how to be normal, and the social norms of the
normal world? Were you socialized through your parents? Were they
themselves autistic? And what were the "Aha!" moments of self-discovery you
had along the way?
+Chris Brown love the quote.totally agree with you. I try to do both... blend in as much as I am able, and find somewhere else to be in order to minimize opportunities for conflict.libraries are a good place to hangout if you like to read. it is rare for an anti-intellectual to willingly set foot in a library. also artists tend to be very accepting of differences, and many appear to have autistic tendencies.
+Gc T "Mankind are a herd of knaves and fools. It is necessary to join the crowd, or get out of their way, in order not to be trampled to death by them." William Hazlitt. Two strategies: yes, learning social camouflage.or mimicry is one.Finding the right niches away from the mainstream is the other. What "most people do, like" is not much of a guide if one is not "most people". But many "mainstream" "normal" folk can't easily handle difference, for all their supposed superior social skills..
+MarketAndChurch not sure if you were asking me or just the world in general. But basically nobody taught me, I had to learn through trial and error and observation. One major ah ha moment for me came at the start of 7th grade. It was when I realized that if I wanted to be left alone and not singled out for bullying, that I had to learn how to be an actor, I had to pretend to be just like everyone else. It made me very sad that I could not simply be myself. But it was an essential survival skill. The thing that I realized is that the human race especially around middle school age, is saturated with herd instinct and attacks anything that is different from the herd.As an aspie the secret to survival is to try to blend in with the herd and to be as invisible as possible. otherwise you will find yourself under constant attack.
Why is it people (mainly girls) with aspergers always look younger then
their age. Its not listed as a symptom and theres no information on it
anywhere but every girl I see with aspergers looks ridiculously young for
her age. This 17 year old honstly looks about 9-10.
it's because they don't follow the crowd who try to look older. Aspies don't get stressed over the same things as NT girls like fashion and popularity. Most girls aggressively compete with each other. This causes stress and premature aging. Aspie women are soft looking.
+girlygirlyblonde that is a very interesting observation. I would not put her at 10, but I would guess 12 to 14. I certainly agree she does not look 17.recently someone asked me my age, and I think it's kind of annoying to be asked that once you are over 30. So I just made up a number which was about 20 years younger than I actually am and they believed me...I speculate that it's due to the lack of stress lines in the face. aspies don't process emotions in the same way as NTs, so the stress that we feel does not necessarily show up in our face.
I'm almost 28. My mom still won't accept it. And God she speaks loud and
wants to say 10 things in the same time i'm at a level were i say she needs
appointment because i must prepare my sould to hear what she says. Best i
understand wen she writes to me (she's bipolar, i probably am aspie but in
my time as a kid this was not a recognised condition in my country)
+TheDreaming Button Hi :) Err, when you said "I'm almost 28. My mom still won't accept it." i wondered if you meant she won't accept that you are 28. Many mom's don't seem to understand their child has grown up, however old the child becomes. Bipolar's can be tricky because you never know how they are going to be, so it's difficult to prepare for how they are. On the other hand they are NOT boring so that can be quite interesting about them. Good luck!! Regards form Tom :)
People without their own world suffer from boredom. That's why they have a
constant hunger for constant contact with others (e.g. cell phone
addiction!). With your own world, this insecurity exists not.
+anitaboneshow People without their own world suffer from boredom. That's why they have a constant hunger for constant contact with othersI think that your comment is very insightful.

Aspie Sean Week 4: "How To Know If You Have Asperger's Syndrome."
This weeks topic is about knowing if you have it, how I found out, and my ideas for helping you to find your own answer's. As always, don't forget to read David ...
+rowan morrison Go out to a good bar. Order a scotch. Now you have just had human interaction, spoken, and you get a good scotch.I know a bit of a facetious answer but it can be said that sometimes the answer to a big problem is made of small simple actions. This could be one of them, and it comes with good booze.
my brother has it. youll talk to him and hell give you a really out there
answer and then talk about legos or just be quiet. Next to zero social
skills but his iq is over 150 and he can do a rubix cube in like 2 minutes
+Aspie Sean actually I dont really know. he lives with other parts of the family and they kind of ignored it. I always assumed it was aspergers because he seems to not understand body language, takes things literally and has narrow interests, hes quiet and when he answers a question, he shifts the conversation back to his interests (usually legos).
+eclipse technology Weird how that all works and yet at the end isn't useful in and of itself but only as it pertains to other things. Same as same for spices if you think about it.
