Seems to be what I have, only hope to eliminate the occurrences and also
avoid the vertigo effect. I've had this condition now for three months,
nasal treatment, hearing test, ABR, MRI and other test came back normal,
thanks God for that! I have relapses with intense tinnitus and fullness
that can last for hours, whole food supplements have help bring relief but
still working on eliminating all salts, wine and processed foods, it will
happen soon as this disorder is scary.
Hydrops, any comment on current theories? Cervical disorders, mucosa
dysfunction, viral latency, perhaps an ischemic complication? Do you
believe that higher field strength non invasive imaging (when it arrives)
will reveal the mechanism? Why is this disease only present in humans?

I have fluttering sensation in my right ear. The "butterfly in the ear"
effect, right. There is no sound associated with it. My hearing is fine.
There is no pain. I did have stuffed nose for few days recently... I'm
suspecting that's the cause. Oh, and the fluttering usually happens like
2-3 times in the morning. Then it's fine most of the day. Any suggestions,
Doc? Should I be concerned or wait for the stuffed sinuses to get better
or? I have red on forums that people have had this fluttering... even for
decades. I do hope it won't last me so long, it would be a real buzzkill.
My name is Ronny Thomas , I'm from Colombia , and I have the same problem
as the patient is in the video, in my case, the ringing in my ears I is
literally wasting my life , I have tinnitus because of jaw problems affect
my tensor tympani muscle , so I could only fill my system with analgesic,
wholeheartedly appreciate if you could answer .
how could the specialist access the tympanic muscle to inject Botox ?
thank you very much for your attention , and apologize for my poor
English. Greetings from Colombia.
+Ronny Thomas Gonzalez Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, I cannot provide a diagnosis over the computer. I do encourage you to see an ENT or your physician so they can take a look at your ear and provide a solution for you.
Hi There
i have the following question, is it possible to inject the tensor tympani
with botulline, botox in sted of the surgery?
I hope to hear from you!
with kind regards

Hello, I would be grateful if you could help: 3 years ago I started picking
in my ear with cotton swabs. I think it because I liked it (very dumb of my
part). As I went on, my ears began to itch, so I picked my ears more and
more. 8 months ago, it reached to a point where tinnitus also started along
with it (right ear). I Immediately stopped the picking, but my tinnitus is
still there, my ears itch less than before though. I read on the web that
picking with a swab can cause Tensor Tympani Spasm. Is this what I may
have? everytime I went to my ENTs to complain they just cleaned my ear
every time, I don't think they know how to help. do you think that you
could help if I came to your clinic? is this even the case?
Thank you for the video. It is very interesting because I occasionally hear
a 'humming' sound, mostly at night when I am in bed. This noise almost
definitely seemed to be coming from outside source, but after diligent
searching I have come to the conclusion that it is nothing in my house or
neighborhood causing the noise. My wife also claims she cannot hear. The
point I am getting to though, is that I have noticed that when I yawn, the
exact same sound will briefly appear. After doing some research I realized
this must be the tensor tympani muscle creating this sound. Does this sound
normal, that one could hear a low frequency "hum" (of around the 60-70 Hz
range) almost nightly due to this muscle? If so, does it make sense that
the 'noise' seems to go away when I walk outside or during the day? Have
you ever heard of this type of tinnitus before? Thanks again.
+opticalsky Are you experiencing symptoms similar to the ones I have mentioned? I'm just curious because the more I investigate this and my symptoms, the more I realize there are literally tens of thousands, if not millions of people worldwide experiencing an almost identical noise, mainly at night, and mainly only when indoors. I thought it was definitely related to this muscle because I would hear nearly the same noise also when yawning, but only for that brief moment when tensing the facial/ear muscles. Now I'm beginning to think that is just a coincidence and there is some other source to this humming/droning I am hearing occasionally. I have already searched for a possible source, shutting off all electricity, water pressure to my plumbing, etc, but did not affect the noise at all. Very strange phenomenon that seems to be plaguing people all over the world for the last couple of decades in particular.
+The Ashford Clinic / ENT Is this something that can be fixed? I've read that the only way to definitely stop tensor spasm is to do surgery and cut the muscle, but I have no idea what the ramifications are for doing it. Could one lose their hearing or something if they did this?
Thank you for the reply. Could you elaborate a bit on what other possible diagnoses it could be? Do people with these spasms ever claim to hear a steady humming sound of around 60-70Hz for up to several hours at a time? Thanks again for your help.
+Johnny J Your symptoms sound like they could be tensor tympani spasm, but there are other diagnoses that also could cause similar symptoms.

Thank you everyone for the support. Have had this Menier's since 2010 now.
Multiple flares with continued bilateral hearing loss till about 2012. Then
it settled with chronic 35% loss on Left and 25/30% on Right. Minimal to
little attacks and minimal nausea intermittently.
Unfortunately I perhaps became lax which my diet (caffeine, fatty foods,
and sugar) but did lose 12 pounds and was exercising great and sleeping
well. I stopped my monthly acupuncture sessions. Had increased work stress,
moved entire house, gutted 1 floor of the house and was living through the
dusty remodel.
Of course, my Menier's flared again with a vengeance. I have thrown
EVERYThING at it again - including the Meniet and Tympanostomy and weekly
acupuncture. I did have to go back to the original acupuncturist (now 55
miles and 90 minutes away) because the other local ones were not as
effective. Slowly improving now after 5 weeks. At least I can stand and
walk and drive unlike 4 weeks ago.
Unfortunately now 70 to 80% deaf in right ear with 40% in left.
Great videos. I had a quick question if anybody can help. I have been
battling with horrible symptoms that lead me & some doctors to believe I
have Meniere's. I have been going through multiple testing and still do not
have any answers. the question I have has to do with bilateral caloric
weakness, my ent thinks i may have a brain issue but my family doctor
thinks my mri looks ok. Im so confused now & feel kinda lost. I have looked
up bilateral caloric weakness but cant seem to find any answers.
Hi, thank you so much for these videos. 2 years ago I woke up one day and
noticed a ringing in my right ear. Hearing loss followed, I visited 3 ent
doctors and had multiple MRI's that came out normal. 3 weeks ago I was
sitting down and the room was spinning badly (it lasted maybe a min or 2).
Since then I have had nausea everyday and times where I loose my balance.
It hits mostly when I'm standing up in place. I had remembered that my 1st
ent keep asking are you getting dizzy spells and I hadn'
Ed, Hi. Thanks so much for these videos. You explain things very
thoroughly. I've seen most of this info elsewhere but its "nice" to hear
from a doctor who is genuinely interested for personal reasons. I had not
heard that tinnitus might seem to be in both ears but is really coming from
one. I wonder if you think this might be, in any way, related to TMJ from
teeth gritting and grinding. A lot in common + jaw popping + parasthesia,
especially on the affected side and around the face. Thanks!
If you have not already had the full work up and medical evaluation for
Meniere's then you should definitely ask for the lab tests. Meniere's can
be diagnosed by symptoms, but it really should be a diagnosis of exclusion.
So all other possible medical problems or conditions should be "Ruled Out"
first. ABSOLUTELY ask for CBC, Lytes, BUN, Creat, Ca, TSH, LFTs, RPR, HIV,
and Lipid panel. Also Ask for an MRI of the brain. Costs are dropping -
$350. Your insurance should definitely cover it.
The reason superior canal dehiscence can behave like Meniere's is because
it also affects the Upper ring of the Vestibular complex. The theory is
that a person's lower temporal bone was not fully developed at birth so
over time this bone wears away and possibly causes a fistula or leak
between the balance center and the underside temporal area of the brain.
The leaking of the fluid and changes in fluid pressure within the hearing
complex mimics the same symptoms as Meniere's.
The best way of diagnosing SCD is doing a ULTRA HIGH RESOLUTION CT SCAN
with special cuts through the temporal bone. A MRI of the brain may NOT
show this problem because a MRI images soft tissue (i.e. Brain) and NOT
bone well. Here is a GREAT photo of the area involved: The Wikipedia entry
actually is very well written with excellent references:
Superior Canal Dehiscence and Perilymphatic Fistula can both ABSOLUTELY be
mistaken for Meniere's Meniere's DIsease is often called a Syndrome because
it is actually a constellation of symptoms. The ONLY way of really
diagnosing true Meniere's is after someone dies and they do a pathological
autopsy of the hearing complex.
investigate the testing first and look at the research for errors - the HIV
test is just 2 proteins and many conditions cause positive test results
including vaccinations and drug use and pregnancy - all new video evidence
that we didn't have before now available - hivquestions - peace
