+ArtoftheImage Ok here is my question that I emailed you... Hi Mat!.Would like to hear your take on which camera is better.I am an amateur film maker and need a camera that has very good video capabilites as well as decent image quality.I was leaning towards a D7100 but decided not to because of the manual video limitations and poor auto focus. So I am now down to these two cameras, The Sony a7 and the Panasonic G7, While the 4k of the G7 is excellent, I don't like the low light performance, But the lack of lenses and the higher price for the a7 makes this a tough choice. As far as images go I usually capture sports and landscapes. My budget for this entire setup is around 1200$Thanks!
I agree 100%. Get the G7 and save money. Also the G7 is better with less
noise for low light than the GH4. The G7 has no audio out jack. Just get a
Zoom H4N audio recorder. It is far superior than any on-board camera mic,
and it is fairly cheap. It records uncompressed wav files for really high
quality audio.
+jeffhalebopp Great feedback! Totally agree on the AMAZING little Zoom H4n audio recorder (love mine!). Get it here on Amazon //amzn.to/1QeFEPp currently on for ONLY $199!
+21upbowls LOL... it doesn't sound like you've ever used a Panasonic G7 or GH4. My G7 sure doesn't make an noise. Most Sony's don't do native 4K, plus they have bad battery life and over-heat (not to mention costing almost 10X as much to get 4K). I'll stick with my AWESOME little Panasonic G7 :-)
