You're correct, they aren't as fast as a lot of drag cars, but they are faster than a whole lot of cars. Part of the reason a lot of people think it's cool to drag a diesel is because they aren't intended for that, but you can still make them fast as hell, and still do what it was intended to do, tow. The Scheid dragster is around 7 second 1/4 miles, only because it can't hook up. Pretty impressive to me. Off topic, but what kind of car are you restoring? What are you shooting for in the 1/4?

@93CTD im a duramax guy and im telling you a cummins can easily catch a viper. (i didnt say this, dont want the other duramax guys to hear me) but the cummins in my oppinion is the most well put together diesel engine in the U.S. market. cast iron inline 6. you bet ur ass a cummins could catch a viper. and get 25 mpg while doing it. my only prob is that the awesomness that is cummins, come only in one color, DODGE. not a fan. i dont feel that dodges products match the quality of a CHEVY

well lets put it this way i know the driver in that diesel personally the diesel truck had a nos kit the dodge viper was straight stock so hows that fare that dodge viper will smoke any dodge ram truck stock ill lay money on that just like they said a bucadie could beat a viper lol i seen the 2011 dodge viper v12 twin take his ass to school in a 1/4 but ill give it to you you needed nos cuz you know your ass didnt stand a chance

So 1fstGN thinks diesel trucks are slow and gay. Did he notice that a 6500 lb truck ripped off a mid11 second quarter mile pass and smoked a viper in the process. He was too busy sucking on a cock. And i bet his restored 68 Camaro won't be getting 16-18 mpg or driven daily like these diesel trucks. If we don't see a video of 1ftsGN's Camaro doing a 11 sec pass assume he has died of AIDS. @RovingLandRover YOUR, almost right. see unfortuately the cummins comes in an in line 6 and the viper is a v10, the cummins comes in a full size pick up and the v10 comes in a sports car. so maybe a stock viper vs a viper with a cummins in it, or a stock cummins truck and a truck with a viper engine. as for the viper spanking the the diesel, yeah probably, but it like saying a crotch rocket and a harley should race.

think about it, blow that much money on a viper or spend the same and get a truck fully worked!! not only can the truck carry more ppl, more weight, tow big things behind it, and go more places, it would cost less rego then that v10 sports car. above all that, pwning some dumb little rich bitch who's driving a sports car when all you have is a slow ass Diesel truck, now thats something money can buy!

uhmm yea that viper is likely stock, that truck isn't. I have said it before so I will say it again, trucks are not built for speed. Sure they can pack a lot of engine but that also packs on a lot of weight. They are not aerodynamic whatsoever. Trucks serve a purpose but the purpose is not speed. A 11 second quarter mile time is nothing to brag about, I have seen modded out supra's pull 7's.

uhmm no there is a difference between a stock sports car and a non-stock sports car. Weight reduction, racing transmission, modified computer, these are all things that can be done. They do not do this for the viper because it would mean you would have to take out a lot of features, and you would be dumping crazy amounts of fuel into the engine for a normal drive.

i got a 02 2500 with 5.9l vp 44 i love it, but if it wasn't for cummins i woul get a 03 7.3l not much room in dodge and front end suck ass so do the brakes seem to wear out too fast, at least i got a 6spd thats a plus, and i love the sound too,i guess i don't care much for dodge it's the cummins that made the truck...... ok i'm ready for the comments now : )

OK , !fst GN lets do some math. A new Viper cost $60K , and a used one costs $30-40k. Now you can buy a clean used diesel Ram for $5 or 6K and add an additional $6-8000 and it will be an 11 sec. truck. That leaves the Dodge truck with an additional $30 to $40,000 left over. I guess you were too busy sucking cocks than paying attention in math class.

How much are you spending on your motor and transmission? Dodge ATS stage 6 or Suncoast is $7,300 and change. That transmission will last you forever. They fix all the weak links. That can't handle over 375hp. Witch the stock 48RE transmission can handle. What stock Chevy transmission can handle 325hp and 555 ft. lb. of torque?

@MarineHawk117 I wouldn't say that either, i just rebuilt a 24v cummins, its only putting out around 750hp and around 1500lbs, it defuels at 4000rpm and we got her up to 128mph and only at 2800rpms, but then we ran out of road lol. I think a cummins could catch a viper, but only if you have the money lol.

I don't think the Viper guy would be rattled at all from this defeat. If he can buy a Viper then I'm sure he can duplicate and improve upon what he was beaten by. Its very likely he hauled his car in there with the same kind of truck lol. If it wasn't for the Cummins engine Dodge trucks would be trash.

peobryant - i payied only 3k for my dodge cummins it belonged to a 87 year old man it was a 90-96 model .. only that was wrong with it ....a rat got under the hood an ate alot of the fuel system wireing up but that only cost about 250$ so i cam out on top

@MarineHawk117 lol banks preformance has a diesel s-10 that holds tons of records, on of which is for breaking the 200mph mark with a diesel truck. (212mph is where they were when they let off the throttle, lol plenty of throttle to go)
