Its been a long time. I first read the story when i was like 10, a few more times since. My fav king short story.

+Benito Thundertwat: Nope, the original story ended with the father, kid, and the other 2 folks driving through the mist, trying to find some place of safety. The father thinking that he had heard a single word coming through the static on the radio; "Hope." So it was a rather ambiguous ending. The movie was much more horrible and gut-wrenching -- which is probably why Mr. King liked it better than his original ending.

+CaptnJack If i remember, the short story kind of left off with the guy mentioning the 4 bullets, and everyone sort of silently accepting that was the only way out. There was no military or savior at the end. It just left you to ponder the situation and wonder what choice they made.

However, Mr. King was impressed (and jealous that he didn't think of it) -- he said it was a way better ending than what he wrote in the original story.

Steve, exactly. But to me, the question is whether this 3rdPhase guy is just stupid or whether his channel is part of a disinformation campaign organised by the intelligence community. I'm leaning towards the latter but that's just my opinion. Like you say, the effect of these videos (and the aim of a disinformation campaign, if one was really in place) is to make it harder for the field to be taken seriously. I think most people underestimate the damage that psychology can have on progress...

I never said it was top secret. The Air Force has been flying this thing during daylight hours for at least two years. Whoever posted the video of the helicopter towing it may never have seen the videos or pictures. so they assumed it was something new and top secret. :)

OH yeah, it's top secret and the aIrforce sticks a big white star with U.S. AIRFORCE plastered all over it. Surely if they didn't want anyone to know about it they would leave it blank and deny it was theirs.
