haha of course nobody knew!!!! everybody lives the american dream! buying lots and lots and loooots of products made in china! and why are they made in china? BECAUSE THEY PAY EXTREMELY LOW! AND SELL expensive in other countries! Apple is not the first nor the last to do this. NIKE, LACOSTE, and many other brands 'Made in Asia (china, singapour, laos, vietnam) apply this practices... its weird that every time there is a new story about a company in asia... every company do the same.

@OfficialTedWilliams I'm wrong? Oh, no. I am far from an apple fan. I don't buy their products anymore. I was talking the economic's of china. These people allow themselves to be treated like shit. If they want to change it. They will have to change it and do whatever it takes to achieve that. I know if apple wanted they could bring up their wages and working conditions, but only time will tell if they do that.

nobody is forcing you to work at Foxxcom, if you don't like the working hours, or working condition how about you find another job? A company is there to be profitable, not to do charity. I'm not excusing the poor treatment of human beings and human right violations. I'm just saying that strategically as a third-world nation like PRC, there may be few options and the criticism that they face is often met with little understanding of their internal structure. It's easy to criticize a third-world nation when you draw the comparison against first-world nations that have already gone through their third-world phase. The difference is PRC has an opportunity to change in history.

Hi Karen, great report. One argument often used to defend against the poor working conditions and abusive labour laws in PRC is that their economy and overall levels of education is such that they are not ready for labour law regulations. It gives them a competitive advantage. Furthermore if you rewind US's history during the industrial revolution, similar conditions with child labour can be seen, and in fact I believe that is what motivated unions in the US.
