+Todd Hooper Sounds like you never heard of him? lolHis early stuff is high gain Shrapnel shred when he was 18 years old..but look up stuff he's done in the last 15 years. He was also the second guitarist for Mr. Big.
+Todd Hooper Depends what 'shred' you are talking about. Listen to Richie Kotzens catalog...the guy can play anything, and he hasn't used high gain in years.
+Todd Hooper I tend to agree, but I was basically speaking within the context of blues. But you have a point. The originality comes in a player that can combine all styles and add their own personal flair to it.You know, those guitarists who you can recognize as soon as you hear them?Matt Schofield is not one of them.
+krelbar Not arguing, but is there anything new? I mean I love all of the blues guys, old school and new, but lets face it unless you play a 20 strings guitar with a canoe paddle while juggling chainsaws there ain't much left that hasn't been played to shreds by all the greats that've already come around! But man it's still awesome music and makes my soul happy to hear it! Plus he just seems like he'd be a super nice guy to hang with!
Man, Schofield is the best blues player in the world right now. You can
hear all of the SRV, BB King, Albert King, Hendrix and Freddie King
influence but he's absolutely got his own unique sound and phrasing. Going
to study and learn everyone of these songs and licks until I have Matt in
my own sound.
+Brandon Look Matt is great but check out Eric Gales, he kills it as well, Robbin Ford, Scott Henderson there are many more....all of them great who is better? hah not going there
He's very fluid. In order to play like this, you need to play well
through chord changes and use major 3rds. He's one of my favorites.
Awesome stuff and thanks!
+Stewart Gerhart Yeah man he can string endless licks together sometimes changing key over the chord changes. He's very fluid takes a long time to get that fluid, I don't think he messes up much if any. If he does he's a master like Clapton and can cover it up.

Part 1: LIVE Concerts In Your Home on Tampa Bay's Media Talk
I think also that promoting it as a "concert in your own home" sounds a lot
more sophisticated than having a party with "a band", wouldn't you say.
It's kind of saying that the musicians are actually coming there JUST for
you, to get to know you, as much as you get a chance to know them. Great,
Fran. You're an inspirational advocate for this kind of thing.
