+JPawesomMedia USB to HDMI/DVI/VGA is very complex, as in essence it is a USB video card. The usb 2.0 displaylink chipset does work on mac and linux (took some doing, but it works) and is quite usable. Right now all usb 3 graphics adapters are windows only. But that is just because the chip manufacturer do not write drivers for anything else so in theory it is a matter of time before that becomes avaliable.TV recievers like this are a lot simpeler, and I know that the linux kernel comes with a lot of modules already installed for tv/capture cards. Mac support is a bit more limited but it still supports quite a few chipsets right out of the box. And for this price, it is worth a gamble
+John Ward Okay Thanks :) I was just wandering because a few weeks ago i got a usb 3.0 to HDMI adapter, but it had no branding (so no knowing of the drivers) and the micro CD with the windows-only drivers was no use, so i just wandered wether this would be the same case. Thanks :D
I bought one about the same time as this video and never got it work, even
with the out side antenna connected. I wonder if they sell them cheep so
the soft ware that you load can put some sort of bad programing on your
computer ?
Well, I've noticed that every time I buy something like this from China, I get a burst of junk mail to my eBay specific address. So the process seems to harvest email addresses, a much easier way to distribute malware.
+Robothut Unlikey, there are much easier ways of distributing malware.Probably just cheap manufacturing with little or no quality control, so whether you get a working one is something of a lottery.
I have just read further down the comments and Windows Media Centre has
been mentioned. A question also is does the dongle get warm after prolonged
use? many thanks Sean
It works fine on my Sony Z2 phone with the small antenna, I watched tv in
the park (surprised). My only issue is it will not connect to my Yoga Pad
2. Quite a good fun gadget $40.00 JB HiFi
Did you ever find out what the usb port is for? Maybe for software updates?
Or perhaps a usb wireless dongle? If it's ethernet ready and has no
ethernet port?... I'm curious.
Me too cause that is what the installer told me. them usb might be a
service port for firmware updates these receivers don't really come with a
full manuel .

+JustMrWolf Good question. I'm pretty sure you'd be able to pick up one online. It has support in the App itself for many countries so I don't see why it wouldn't work. It's just using a DVB-T broadcast. Hope that helps.
