First off, sorry about the computer video weird patterns. When I figure out how to get rig of them I will redo those parts. That being said, I thought this would be a ...
Hello,I just received my 436hp in the mail the other day and I was doing a
update of the data base to my radio and I clicked on something I have no
idea what it was my screen switched so quick I didn't see what it was but
whatever happen I think my SD card got ruined, can I just go but a new SD
card and if I do can I just put it in my radio and have it work or do I
have to do a programming process in order for the new SD card to work.
This is great. But for us Mac users the software doesn't seem to like
running on a virtual machine consistently . I am running Windows 7
professional on my Macbook air. And have had very limited success in
getting the software to the SD card.
Tery - Thank you for this video, I had thought I bricked my radio and tried
everything the net suggested and no luck. I then followed your instruction
and guess what? Success! My radio came back from the dead. Thanks buddy. -

I have a BCD436HP and so far I love it. My only problem is that I have
created 6 different favorite lists with the Sentinnel Software. If I don't
use the software it won't let me get all of the channels for the each
groups that I want. I have Spartanburg Co. Sheriffs Office, Spartanburg Co.
EMS, Spartanburg Co. Fire, South Carolina Highway Patrol Troop 3, Town PD,
and Sptbg City Police and Fire. I've already written to scanner and the
only groups that will scan and broadcast are the county fire channels. I
don't understand why the other groups aren't scanning. I have already set
all of them to scan and still there is no change. I'm at the end of my
rope please someone help! Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Hi there k4dps
I found a new p25 frequency for my local state patrol and am wanting to
program it to my radio, the part I'm confused about is it is p25:71E is the
system and I'm not sure how to go about programming that in.do I do it
under a p25 trunked,or p25 one frequency I don't believe it is a p25 X2
tdma the frequency is 171.9875 however the frequency is not listed on RR
which is odd in a way to me, I'm still getting to know certain stuff so
that's why I'm asking, any help would be great
Thank you
Hi again k4dps,well I recieved my 436hp yesterday and I made a couple
mistakes when I was trying to get it programmed and I would like to reset
my radio but how do I clear the SD card of the current storage I put in
it?I haven't been able to find how I can reformat the SD card.I do
appreciate ur time from all the questions I have previously asked.
Have a question for you. I have created a favorites list as per your video.
When I go into the favorites list to delete some channels from it when I go
to listen to the playlist I still see some of the channels I deleated. What
am I doing wrong?
I live in Australia and am wondering if both the BCD996XT and the BCD436HP
are available in this country, we have just gone P25 digital here in the
State of Victoria with our country CFA fire brigade so we will have to
change our scanners to digital as they are phasing out analogue.
+And One I really can't say if the BCD436HP will receive the state patrol system any better than the GRE. It depends on the P25 system itself. If it is a simulcast system, any scanner could have a difficult time receiving it because of multiple transmitters on the receive frequency. The scanners receiver gets overloaded and you will hear poor reception. The best thing to do is use a different antenna and/or try moving your scanner around the house to find a 'sweet spot' for receiving. Some folks have even used a paperclip to help receive simulcast systems.
Hi there k4dps thank you for your reply, that is good for me to know because I wasn't sure on that, also the state patrol in my area is p25 phase 1 does the bcd436hp receive phase 1 clearier then the grecom? With my Grecom it isn't bad it is mostly clear but I'm superised with the reception being kind of poor for p25 phase 1..other frequencies r fine it is mainly the p25 phase 1..
Yes, you can scan multiple favorites scanning at the same time. I currently have 35 favorites and they all can be scanned at the same time.
Initial setup. Updating Firmware and writing Full Database and favorites to scanner.
Uniden BCD436HP First Impressions
This is my first impression video of the Uniden BCD436HP digital hand held scanner. One of the best hand held scanners ever made in my opinion. So many ...
+Nathan Petrovski I'm not sure. You can check on radio reference.com and look in the forums section near the bottom. There i an Australian forum //forums.radioreference.com/australia-radio-discussion-forums/
Things have gone from bad to terrible! First : Why do I need to upgrade to
the extreme upgrade if I purchased Home Patrol-2? Also I uploaded my firm
ware once again and now I get the message All Channels in range have been
avoided! I review avoids and get NONE AVOIDED! and now I can't even select
service types nothing high lights and nothing activates! I even put in a
zip code 30 miles away and STILL get all channels in range have been
avoided! I have increased my range to max!
You only need to purchase the extreme upgrade if you want those advanced features. They are not necessary for the normal operation of the scanner. For the other issue, please use one of the support/discussion forums such as those at www.homepatrol.com or www.radioreference.com.
I have updated the uniden Home patrol's data base from my computer and
still don't get any trunked system police calls! Do you happen to know what
system Peoria County is using? Is it Arlington as you use in your info
video?
Thank you for your answer and help! How do I purchase extreme upgrade from
uniden! I had no idea there was such a thig! I've watched all the videos
on operations and programing with no mention of this!
yes I bought 2 at radio shack! I specifically bought them because my
hometown(Bartonville, Illinois) was switching to a trunking system! They
are the only one in this area to switch! That is the only city I want to
listen to! I haven't heard a thing on Bartonville since middle August of
2014! Please help me! I have searched everywhere trying to remedy this
problem!
Did you purchase the extreme upgrade? (That is the only thing you need a registration code for.) You purchase the extreme upgrade directly from Uniden, not RadioShack. I do see that Barton ville moved to the Peoria County trunked system at some point (maybe last November?). Have you updated the HomePatrol's database? I recommend going to the Community forums (linked above) or RadioReference.com forums to discuss...it can take me several days or weeks to notice video comments...those forums are active every minute.
We have to pay additional royalties and had to pay development costs for the added features that not everyone wants or needs. It would not be fair to charge everyone $550 for the scanner even though many of them will never use the advanced features.
I just ordered this scanner today. I'm a little nervous to say the least.
Anyway, which of your videos do you think would help me the most for a
beginner. You know a BCD436HP for beginners :). Thanks in advance!!
+K4DPS Well I have several favorites lists made (even one for next weeks vacation). The software made that fairly easy. But you are correct, so much to learn - wow. We've had scanners in the past, but this is a whole new ballgame!! Love your videos - I'm trying to watch them all. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. :)
+Lisa Hall I'm not sure any one of my videos would be a good start Lisa. I would encourage you to watch them all. There is so much to learn when it comes to these scanners. You might start with how to make a favorite list either using the software or by the menu. I will try and help in any way I can.
You, sir, have wonderful videos. Thank you for the high quality, I have
learned a great deal from them. They are so well done, you have a gift -
thank you for using it.
+alex martinez LAPD are on UHF 484, 506, and 507 MHz. You can use the stock antenna or you could purchase one that is specific to those frequencies. I would hope the stock antenna would work just fine.
Why does the BCD436HP not come with a power unit just batteries..seems
there would be a lot of time not scanning but replacing or charging your
batteries
+Joseph Creech Your welcome. Yes, the scanner has to be off to charge the batteries. I would recommend purchasing a separate battery charger and spare batteries.
It comes with a miniUSB to USB cable that doubles as a program cable and USB battery charger.
Uniden BCD436HP Phase I and II test on the NJICS 700 MHz system.
Just a quick test of the BCD436HP on the New Jersey Interoperability Communications System (NJICS) with Phase I P25 and Phase II talk groups. Hope this ...
+SnakeEater9920 i have the 996p2 but my pro 197 just kicked its ass. check out my channel for a scanner smack down i just posted. i do like the 996p2 though, it's gorgeous.
I noticed that you have Cape May County, NJ in this radio. Did you use it
in Cape May County yet? How about Atlantic County, NJ? I'm trying to find a
new scanner radio that will receive newer radio broadcasts.
Yeah, thanks! I have purchased the same scanner and I hear Cape May County Sheriff's office and Middle Twp. PD on that system, but for some same reason I can't hear them on any other site in south jersey. could it be due to the fact I Copy and the talk group to the cape may county sheriff's groups? please email me at [email protected] thanks!Bob
+NiteFlicks Outdoor Entertainment I have never used it in those counties. But I can assure you that this is the radio you're looking for. My normal use is up in Middlesex, Somerset and Union counties. Although I do manage to get hits on Cape May county from all the way up here, on the NJICS system West Orange site. Whether your counties do Phase 1 or 2, this has improved audio on both phases. Although Phase II on this radio can sound very distorted and mumbled on certain systems, and can be fine on other systems. Just keep that in mind. But other than that, this is a great radio to pick up. Also, check out the BCD996P2 and the newer Whistler scanners! I use scannermaster.com
+Matt L Jones @iRacing PT0 and PT1 means that the radio talkgroup is using Phase II (Two slot) TDMA modulation. When it shows up as "P25" that talkgroup is normal FDMA Phase I digital.
how much did you pay for this scanner?you just enter youre zip code and
thats it?when you enter your zip code how many towns away does it program
it for?thanks
