lol, you called me immature then i called you narrow minded. so who started
insulting who?. Mercedes are the ones that made the seatbelt airbags, and
the curtain airbag between the seats.not I. And these 15+ airbags were done
to be used on an practical everyday vechicle. So i added the roof certain
airbag idea as a fisible thought. Airbags are seen and used as more
practical ideas then your helmet, hans, and $1 million car ideas. 'See the
video 'ESF Mercedes Concept'. then see who's the asshole.
The curtain airbags would definately protect the back of the head hitting
the roof. the back of the head is a very sensitive area but maybe not in
your case, lol. The new ESF Mercedes Concept has curtain airbags between the
drivers and co-drivers seat to prevent there heads and bodies colliding.
and airbags in the seatbelts. if they can put 1steering, 1dash, 2knee, 6
certain airbags in a car. what difference would 2 more really make. Safety
1st, little extra weight 2nd.
I got the Accord May 4th... I feel so much safer. The Accord has 5 star
crash test ratings (the Lexus has 4). Plus this car is cramped... I've
ridden in one. Plus with the leather seats, 6 disc changer, etc, my Accord
is nicer. Plus it was under $20,000... a used IS 250 for that price would
be a couple years older and have way more than 48,904 miles. I like
Toyota/Lexus, but my Accord just blew this overpriced thing out of the
water. Case closed. May 27, 2012 2:55 am
@therealworld6 well, BMW and Audi think about ppl who don't want to pay
extra for stuff they don't need. plus, leather gets very hot in the summer,
and very cold in the winter, plus, they stick to ur body, if ur wearing
shorts and no shirt in the passenger seat etc, so it is uncomfortable, and
u can't slide urself to change ur sitting position. AND leather seats
smell, atleast in the beginning. AND if u want to make a sportcar outta it,
u will swap the seats anyway.
...did you know that the contents of the glove compartment are made
inaccessible for a split second to protect the passenger's knees? In a
frontal crash, an airbag deploys, covering the glove compartment and its
opening button like an inflated "wall" (Yes, you press a button to open the
glove box in this car). After the bag deflates, it falls on the floor or
must be slightly moved. The glove compartment can be operated normally at
this point. March 15, 2011 4:30 am
You're very narrow minded and refuse to think outside the box and ask
'Why'. You're satisfied with the little you know. Ok, the airbags in the
ESF Mercedes Concept's seatbelt prevent whiplash, and the 3 point seatbelt
doesn't protect driver and co-driver heads in a powerful side collision.
Why dont they teach drivers to drive better you ask. lol, what can i say.
Learn the meanings to the words 'accident' and 'human error' for starters
then get back to me.lol
weirdly enough, the base model has leather seats, but there is a sports
variant that doesn't...as it opts for something else instead. in australia
there was three models, the prestige (base model), sports (model without
leather) and sports luxury (top of the range). the sports model if im not
mistaken has now been dropped though. i don't know how it is in the US or
Europe though. (we also don't have the is350, sadly)
I totally agree, Waffles91. I'd much rather have had velour for my IS250.
But leather is a 'standard option', meaning that they don't really make it
with cloth. Leather is too slippery. Objects slide around on the seats. And
leather is too fragile. Besides: cloth absorbs noise better than leather.
But I do love the leather steering wheel. Feels great.
That rear test is pointless when there is a rear bumper in your back. They
need to test for rear structural rigidly la d rear crumple zones. That
recurrent rear testing is a test that even the disastrously built Chinese
Brillance could pass merely by way of seat design. Nevermind the fact that
the car itself has the strength of a soda can. .
ok 1: go drive 30 miles into a wall using your car. with the seat belt not
on. 2: try to find some one that has the same car as you and take it and
drive it into a wall without wearing a seat belt. then you'll see the
difference. and im not responsible for any harm or damage that you cause.
@cheeze342 It doesn't take long... they sweep it up in a couple minutes.
There are actually people watching these tests, and the car goes under them
as it is towed towards the barrier. After cleanup these people are allowed
down to look at the wreckage. I've actually been to two IIHS tests.
@trousien thats not the main problem with not wearing seatbelts... if you
dont wear a seatbealt, u will be thrust forward into the air bag deployment
zone. And when the airbag deploys in your face.. the force is soo strong
that u will most likely be seriously hurt or die from the air bag.
Same here, in NZ. All Lexus models come with Leather no matter what option
is chosen, except for the Sports model- which is more expensive than the
Elect model (base) yet doesn't come with leather. Either way, 99%+ models I
see on the road are the Limited model (top model)
Yup... that airbag is huge and gets all up on the driver during deployment.
Notice 0:40. I like my Accord's airbag a lot better - it cushioned the
dummy a lot better in the IIHS test, with a lower HIC and less neck
tension. Plus it doesn't smother the driver.
you dont have to make the roof heavier or thinker. a certain airbag would
do. there is plenty of space for that already. or did you mean like the one
in the steering? dont be narrow minded. try and think outside the box. Mr
woo.......
@shivviper1 Most the time I see people out on the street if they don't have
a seatbelt or in some funky position inside their car... w.e. the argument
is you will be projected a full speed in the direction of path you have
stopped..
I have a BMW, and they come with leather seats, but cloth seats are highly
sought after for them. I prefer cloth because they dont make you sweat as
much, and they arnt cold in the winter and hot in the summer.
I got my first car on May 4, 2012, a 2008 Honda Accord EX-L 4 cylinder. I
think a GS460 would be over powered for me, I find my 4 cylinder plenty
quick (: They are nice cars though! September 18, 2012 1:34 am
i tried that car ... it is FANTASTIC .. in gasoline . parts . oil ... i
advice to owe one ... believe me u will love it more than ur wife ... coz
it don't ask a lot . :P
I'm 6' tall and I think this car's frontal airbag would kill me in a
crash... That's why I'm getting a 2008 Honda Accord for my first car (:

something tells me they have to put airbags on the roof for the driver to
deploy when the head is returning from slaming the steering airbag on a
frontal collusion
Why are people NOW saying that are better cars with more safety? Of course
they are, there have been passed 3 or more years since then- check the
title ....
I have the wheel aimed at my chest and sit about that far from the wheel as
shown in the video. I got my Honda Accord on May 4, 2012. June 27, 2012
