+Tigerroux A 73 Capri was my first car at 16 in the early 80s. I can remember allot of good times in that car screwing around with my buddies, making out with girls and other stuff. Sometimes miss those days.
Sweet looking car. It's too bad it wasn't on the US market for very long
before they discontinued it. Seven years doesn't seem like a very long time
for one generation of a car to be on the market.
+Jason Carpp True, but with the downsizing of the Ford Mustang, it was not cost effective to have this relatively expensive import sold in Mercury dealers. If I am remembering correctly, Mercury sold a version of the Ford Mustang under the Bobcat name (effectively competing with the more expensive imported Capri.), The second-generation of the European Capri did not come to the USA, but when the smaller, lighter third-generation Mustang debuted in the late 1970s, Mercury dropped the Bobcat name and badged their version as the Capri. This nameplate would stick around for another decade until the Mercury brand was retooled and several models (i.e., Capri, Lynx) went in a different direction from their Ford siblings or were discontinued.
