Jeep grand Cherokee 4.7 v8 engine knock + chirping
Can anyone tell me so specifically what I'm looking at with this knock. It chirps and sequels some too. All upper engine knocking. 2000 Grand Cherokee.
+Richard DownerFord is #1 selling but only by a small amount and Chevy is only a few thousand away from being #1, Dodge sales have been rising too.But better selling does not mean a better truck it can actually mean a worse truck. Also Chevy is the truck of the year. That means that it beat Ford in certain aspects of performance.Either way if you want a good truck Chevy, Ford & Dodge are the ones to get. Just stay away from Ford's aluminum frame ones.
ya stay away from them crappy triton motors. stick with them 5.0l for the trucks on the fords.. plus them triton motors have issues with the exhaust manifolds.. in the end the ford F-150 IS THE BEST SELLING TRUCK IN THE WORLD.. Yes that is a fact....yes I have given many, many others a try. and in the end I have the best luck with FORDS...
+Richard DownerActually you lost, I said "Your Ford" referring to the fact that you think your Ford is top notch and all others are shit, I didn't say all Ford's.And if you want to get technical I was actually looking into buying a 2000 Ford F150 5.4 Triton yesterday but decided not to after looking up finding out they had issues with blowing out spark plugs up until 2003. You have Ford on the brain, all I see out of you is "My Ford" "My Ford" "My Ford" "My Ford" "My Ford" "My Ford" "My Ford" "My Ford" how about you give other brands a try before before you fan-boy another.I owned Chevy's, Fords, Nissans, Honda's, Dodge's, Hyundai's, Kia's, and driven others. They all had there flaws but they all also ran good and driven good.
+Brandon Leeyou commented "Come around here and your Ford will get torn up not only by Chevy & Dodge but by Toyota's and even Jeep comanches and XJ's" gee sounds like you have a favored???? wow why no fords.. so, I stick to my main comment.. have a nice day :-)... I would rather DRIVE MY FORD THAN PUSH A CHEVY, or any of the named vehicles you mentioned.... :-) I WIN!!!!
+Richard DownerOh really? where did I favor one over the other? I didn't.You on the other hand are favoring your Ford over a Chevy or Dodge assuming it can out do ANY Chevy or Dodge which is 100% false.Tires, Weight, Traction, Power, Differential, Experience, all play roles in pulls/pushes.There is nothing wrong with sticking with a specific brand of vehicles but never assume one is better then the other because no matter what someone is always going to have a better build in a different brand.
+Richard Downer Sounds to me like you are just a fan boy. Come around here and your Ford will get torn up not only by Chevy & Dodge but by Toyota's and even Jeep comanches and XJ's. The FORD badge means absolutely nothing when it comes to pushes and pulls there is more to it then the name on your vehicle.
Swap the water pump first! mine was making the same sound and I pulled the
pan, the head, replaced lifters... all in all about $400 to crank it up and
it was doing the same thing. It was the freakin water pump!
+Rex4x4 Or just do a compression test (No point in doing it if there is bad compression) and if that checks out replace the rod bearings problem solved.A rod knock does not mean a bad engine.

My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L makes this sound at idle intermittently and sometimes when I am accelerating, the sound gets louder. It appears to be ...
