I got one done but one of the lead-rope loops is slidy like a slipknot.
You could be a little more clear about which two loops from the cluster you
should use. Otherwise, great video. I did have to do it twice to make
the ends the correct differing lengths to make them come out. . . well, . .
. more even. Still had some waste to trim off. Is there another method
with a simpler knot then the Fiador?
+Mike Malone look up "easiest way to make halters. it shows some simpler knots than these. but these look so much nicer and are pretty simple once they are mastered. try tying some with just two pieces of rope first. I think cb knots have a video on just the over hand knot.
I have tied this four times and every time I end up the the two ends with
lengths that vary from 1 foot on one piece and four feet on the other
piece. And unfortunately we can't see the ends of your rope so I have no
idea what is going wrong but it ain't working. Shouldn't the remaining ends
be at least similar in length?
if you have any cool ideas for halters let me know. or any tricks that might help. i'm going to try some different types of nose bands soon. CB knot has a lot of different videos that are not on You Tube. that is what they told me. we need to see more videos. I love their product.
+Ray Bartee If you start with 19 feet of rope, and measure in from the right side(right to left) 11 feet and then start your first knot, then go to the left 11 inches for your second knot you will end up correct. you may even have a little extra. I can do it with 18 feet of rope for a standard size halter.
+My baby Jocko 1/4 " double braided polyester. you can order it from CBknot. it's a great company to deal with. and their rope is very nice. I have price shopped a lot and find their prices very competitive. you can make a rope halter with excellent quality rope for $4.00.

+Aybala Önder I have the same problema. These instructions start by having you fold the rope in half, which I did and I expect you did too. All the other instructions I have seen want you to fold the rope to one third and two thirds, which I think would give enough rope to finish. Take it apart and start over, like I already have once and now will again, and smile for allthe practice you are getting. I will have made three (hopefully only three) by the time I finish.
Sure, but i would use a rope halter side pull that has an extra loop on
each side to connect your loop reins so you are pulling from the side and
not under their chin. It's safer this way. Thank you for your comments. Jeff
I tie my halter the first way but i double knot it at a comfortable side,
and it has never loosened or untied. If it had rubbed my horse, he would
have pitched a fit!!!

How to Halter and How to Tie Rope Halter onto your Horse Video Haltering

Yes you could as long as it is long enough (12' or more). But the rope that
we sell is made out of yacht braid rope. It is heavier then a cotton lead
and can give the horse more of a feel and a faster release. The weight from
the rope gives a faster release and horses learn on the release of pressure
not the actual pressure. Also the yacht braid rope is less likely to give
you a rope burn. Thanks, Chelsie Kallestad
Hurray for rope halters! The horse I used to ride [last april at a riding
school] really hated normal halters. But when a rope halter came in his
sight, he was like, "Yeaaah!!". I mean, a happy mood. 'Cause, I dunno, but
rope halters look more gentle and light around the horse's head instead of
the ones that are normally used. The normal ones.
Thank you for posting. This is how I was taught to tie a halter ages ago
and then when I came to work at a trail string operation they tied them
using a sheep-shank knot so that if a horse pulled back while it was tied,
the knot on the halter wouldn't tighten down on itself like the knot I had
been taught to use. What do you think?
@velcho1969 actually a rope halter is more severe. a nylon web halter is
wide and allows the horse to "lean" against it and not listen. the rope
halter is narrow and puts concentrated pressure on the horse. this allows
easier handling and easier to understand cues. that's why the horses prefer
them.
@TheJalopy7 Hi, Chelsie does live in AZ. She travels statewide or even
nationwide for lessons/clinics. To reach her call 928-713-3468. Thanks,

Great video;), could you please help me with another problem of attaching
the rope to the halter and explain why some ropes have a loop and some
don't, thanx;)
absolutly wonderful videos for those who need the visiual aide. Ive tried
sooo many times to make one using written instructions and failed
miserably, though i found it better to use 18ft of rope, because with 20 i
end up with alot of waste (though the waste isnt so bad when i have a cat
helping me by shreading the ends as im making the halter lol) Saves me alot
of money to make my own plus they make great presents. thank you so very
much for taking the time to make and post these videos
@NeveseveN777 I started a halter, and it came out too short on one end to
finish. what is the measurements for each side when you start?? And from
the 2nd part to the 3rd part, connecting the cheek part, I am confused. it
is probably very simple but I can't seem to figure it out. Can you help me?
I am a terrible person when it comes to just listening so it has to be
visual. This video is great by the way(well all 3 of them!)
Well great instuction, but you should make more of thefact that one length
has to be longer than the other because after I got to doing the noseband
knots and the other cheek piece I didnt have enough rope to go over the
poll so I had to start over.
Hey, I want to learn how to do a rope halter, and thanks for posting. But,
isn't 21 feet like a lot of rope? I live in Europe and that is like 6m of
rope. seems like a lot?!
you know that we can stop and watch over parts when we want to? :P thats
the greath thing about a video.. so please.. dont do things over of twice
in one video ;)
I have a rope halter but somehow my horse managed to untie the fiador knot.
I was wondering if there is a way to re-tie that without untying the whole
halter?
you stink at giving directions. I REALLY like the part where a knot
magically appears between #2 and #3. everything looks correct until the
third video
lol, this is like the easy way to do it and looks like it takes a lot less
time! but i already know how to do it the hard way and i think it looks
better that way. but for your first time making one, i think this is great.
Sure it is! Not everybody have lots of time to spend for doing a good rope halter, this one works well and it's more easy and fast to do. Thanks for comment
I do excactly what you say, but I keep ending up with one side of the rope
too short to actually tie the horse with! (it is always the side where the
rope goes through the nose part at the end)
This rope has been used for a rope halter before, which was tied with a
theodore knot. I find those way too hard to tie. I find no problems during
this tutorial, except for the thing at the end.
+GuardianAngelFanga I know, that happens sometimes , if you can return to undo the halter rope knots and begins the first few centimeters beyond. Hope it helps you :) Thanks for comment!
