I have a 92 500SL, issues with soft top and hard top locking when I got the car. The front power latches work for locking but not unlocking (I manually unlock with allen wrench). The tonneau cover will not open to release the soft top. After manually opening tonneau cover only rear window pivots for the soft top. My door windows work no problem. Roll bar switch works, but sometimes finicky after removing and re-installing hard top. Soft top controller problem, or maybe micro switches??

Do you know if a micro switch in the soft top controls the release of the tonneau cover over it? I had fixed a pair of severed wires on the left bow extension cylinder, but still no change. Are there additional micro switches under the soft top frame assembly? Also the control over the roll bar only works when I have the hard top on and locked. I don't have control over it with the switch when it is off.

Update on roof controller: after replacing chips and some diodes controller works after few restarts. I suspect either oscillating crystal or main processor to be faulty. Could not find replacement crystal anywhere. Found processor chip but cannot program it. Recently got my hands on not working roof controller and will try to either fix that one or use crystal off that controller.

Hey Victor Great video! My 98 top works great but I don't think the roll bar pops up in emergency but works up and down .... also the dash light goes on every third start(tho top still functions) ..... is this a controller problem or is there a separate relay for the emergency roll bar pop up? Thanks!

Hi Vsandvs do you have a diagram or were you just testing till you found fault? I have a problem with mine it does not release the front latches on the top of the windscreen do you know what part or chip controls that function, Thank You Will

greetings victor, is there a way to adjust the power front seats manually? I have multiple electrical problems with my 91 roadster, but I'd like to adjust the front drivers seat 1st, since I'm a tall guy. thanks.

Thanks for the Video. My soft top controller is bad. I will need to get it pulled out and sent to you. I drive a 1993 300 CE CV. It became intermittent then it finally just quit folding down. Great Vid.

Have you ever repaired the dome light circuit board? I replaced the relay behind the passenger air bag and now my driver door light is working but not the dome lights.

exhaust is aftermarket (no markings on it to determine what make..but it isn't stock) I have been told that the left hand drive 500SLs imported into Japan (mine is from Japan) had the AMG engine...otherwise they are right hand drive...I can't confirm that, but It seems much quicker than the other 500SLs I have driven

SL means it's based on the S Class (W140) and the L whatever :-D

well im sure its the car ^^ its an-old car and something bound to get stuck every now and then ^^ mine will do a good shocking run every 5 tries no no every red moon ...... damn i need to fix the sensors ;P

yeah it's nuts..once in around 4 tries it will launch that quick..the other 3x it will be almost a second slower...haven't quite figured out if it's me or the car :P
