ABC is a disaster. Has been for last 6 years. Nepotism (son of CFO) is in
charge of hydro suspension design, and every year they put this stuff out,
and every year MB replaces almost every one in the field - at least 4
times. It will strand you and cost you plenty. If under warranty, the car
will sit for days in the shop before they get the parts. Bottom line: if
you don't like to drive your car a lot, but when you do gives you the best
ride out there - then ABC is for you. But drive your car every day and
you'll get burned. ABC is the achilles heel of MB - seen many people
weeping in the waiting area just receiving the news of $23k repairs
The only reasion the pump went bad is the electric valve on the outside of
it gets dirty but the mechanics just do what the computer tells them to
do..fault code is caused by low system pressure but after replacing at
least 50 of them over the years at the dealer with less than expected
results.Discovered Fluid condition is the underlying culpreit. the fluid
gets worked pretty hard while driving and any hydralic oil is gonna breakl
down when damn hot..ABC is a GOOD system.
I agree with you 100%, The problem with the whole system is that MB gives
everyone the impression and labels it in the manual as a "Lifetime fluid"
and it should last the life of the car, which there's no such thing as
"Lifetime fluid". Every fluid will eventually need to be replaced, and the
fresher you keep all fluids, the longer the life of the car. That goes for
engine oil, transmission, brake system, power steering, etc.
The hydraulics are leaking..My driver was blasting mine on the highway and
we drove to a safe place to have a look and we saw fluid coming out of the
left side suspension. As we speak my SL55 is getting its Supercharger
changed and should be ready in a couple of days. If you drive the car with
the suspension like that it is possible for you to comletely damage the
whole system
Can you tell me whether the sl500/55 r230 has soft close door? the kind
that suck in when close to shut? My sl 55 wont do it but I could have sworn
I saw it happen before.... I have searched and searched but cant find a
thing
Almost all ABC problems can be traced to lack of fluid changes .People dont
realize how important it is.. its in the owners manual. If the ABC failed
the message would be in RED.and would say STOP CAR..
A new ABC suspension will run you $20,000 through Mercedes. Might as well
part the car out if it's a 2003-2004 blue booking at $30,000. Or buy cheap
coil over aftermarket kits and do it yourself.

yeah well the honda dealership dont know what they talking about cause the
srs system is for the airbags if the light is comming on means one of the
airbags are defaulted and tripping the code im guessing its a factory error
in the wiring possible to find a recall on your car just go to your local
auto parts store and see if they can look up your honda to see if it has
any recalls good luck with it and be careful cause it could be a short in
the system which can cause a fire
this car is not that great my brother has one, i drive it atleast 3 times a
week...its loud, it devours gas, and the navi system is slow and non
responsive...the window switches keep breaking and most of the car is
plastic, the grill, the vents on the hood and on the side....its just eye
candy, we have 22 inch rims on it, and the car attracts so much attention
every fucking person watches at the light...jelous fags
@Naoufalitos24 Well he used to have a 2007 lexus es350 fully loaded it was
cool he put a 12" kicker sub in it to!:P He sold it back in 2010 and bought
a 2010 Hyundai Genesis coupe, also fully loaded with the 3.8 V6 and the
grand touring package. A month or two later he put on a AEM cold air intake
and a stillin true dual cat-back exhaust.:D
well thats what i thought but the honda dealership seems to only want to
replace the seat belt buckle and the seat belts have a lifetime warranty so
thats why they keep replaceing it and it stays off for about 75 to 100
miles then comes right back on we had got something in the mail about the
SRS light being fixded for free but i dont no
the srs light is for when a cars airbag has been deployed or when an airbag
goes faulty if its comming on then your airbags in the car might be bad but
has nothing to do with the seat belt buckle srs stands for safety restraint
system which again refers to the airbags only
I have desino package on my sl500 don't hit the button on shifter you need
a chip to start it like that and it you do with no chip it drains battery
because it thinks it a theft I have learned that the hard way my is cherry
red it's nice
something was wrong with it sure did not sound good and the SRS light was
on lol my moms SRS light is on in her civic they dont no what it is they
already replaced the seat belt bukle lol works for a few days then its back
on lol
@techluvr1234 Ofcourse a Mercedes isn't american. But it is American-spec.
They're different from Euro-spec cars. Euro cars don't bong like these do.
Which is purely due to local or in this case, national, legislation.
Its the panic button. You hold it for about a second and rhe alarm will go
off and you hold it again and it will turn. I've got a demostration of the
alarm on my videos if you would like to see how it works.
@Canam7 all early 2000 Mercedes were built like crap to make more money.
And all European engine sounds like a diesel when cold. especially the high
reving short stroke ones like the M5 V10.
Hey Kyle love the reviews, do you think it would be possible for you to get
a review of an SL500 silver arrow edition? R129 series? Thanks keep up the
good work
+BGfootballfan Thanks alot. Its nice to see that there are still deccent people out there instead of the usual punks that only know how to insult people.
+Petrov Bullafarht im buying a new apartment and I do have a serious issue due to small parking spaces ... and obviously I cant park an S class on the street.. if you do buy one and its not brand new make sure you send it to a technition before you buy it, to see if there are any hidden problems! (the air suspension problems are quite common) Best luck and have a smooth ride
+Keith Watson Absolutely! Plus, they last a really really long time. Very solid robust cars. When I worked at a shop, I saw the older SED's came in with 100's of thousands of miles on them and it surprised no one. SED's are perfect for people who hate diesels because the engines have a ton of character to them. Parts are expensive though. New ones are equally as good.
