Why antimatter matters | Professor Tara Shears | TEDxLiverpool
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. While most people know of antimatter through the science fiction of ...
WTF, at 4:44 she says bananas produce 15 positrons everyday. Since these
particles will either hit normal particles in the banana or the air, why
don't bananas explode? I mean, 1 gram of antimatter contacting matter
releases energy similar to one or more atomic bombs, so I would think a few
positron-electron annihilations would be enough to at least explode one
banana. In the words of Magneto, "Are you sure you saw what you saw?" Don't
get me wrong, I have faith in science, I'm just wondering.
+Sims Dreamer After doing some maths, I can tell you that in 1 gram of banana, there is 3^23 electrons... So 1 gram of antimatter contains 30 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 many more positrons than a banana produces in a day. But a banana does actually create an antimatter annihilation equal to 1 mili-joule every day
"six quarks , six leptons" And W and Z bosons, and PHOTONS (pretty
important), and gluons, oh and the FUCKING HIGGS BOSON. I am beginning to
suspect Shears has no idea what the fuck she is talking about.
They should bring in IQ tests or some kind of entrance examination for
participating in the comments sections.
Too many idiots spouting negative kneejerk reactions - in ALL the Ted
talks.
These talks always restore my faith in humanity...
Then the comments below knock it right down again. Too many ignorant fools
spouting their bile, every single time. If you find these talks so
threatening then don't fucking watch them. Fuckheads.
I just ignore those people, if they don't have nothing critical to say, they don't deserve anybody's attention, good luck to you.

I don't know how this fits in with what, who or where? I just wish I had
been there; preferably on stage as a spiritual double perhaps. I had to put
up instead with watching on my computer by courtesy of Youtube. Thanks to
all. It was wonderfull.
