After a surprisingly short model cycle, the redesigned Kia Forte addresses some of the previous version's shortcomings. Rear seat room is generous for a small ...
much better than the Sentra ...opposite extremes in the segment
2013 Ford Escape review | Consumer Reports
Completely redesigned, the Ford Escape is enjoyable to drive. Handling is nimble, the ride is absorbant, and the car feels solid and substantial. But it's ...
$36,000 and no back-up camera. That's painful.
I feel Ford is trying bit too hard to move upscale: $36,000 is well within
VW territory & with options will run into GLK & Q5 price range. I'm not
sure if people will fork over that much dough for a Ford badge.
The tires are low-rolling resistance tires, but they can be changed anyway.
If Continental has the tires for this vehicle for the rims, then it would
ride better with good grip and better braking distance. Most new cars have
cheaper all-season tires, or in some cases summer tires that give up
all-weather traction.
I have a large curved review mirror in my 2011 that helps seeibg around the
thick rear pillars. Overall visabilty in these cars is above average imo
due to its high roof line and relatively high stance.
The basic model has a 1.6L engine and hubcaps. For $19k you get the
mid-level trim with some extras. It's the cheapest in its class. The ugly
Nissan Cube costs about a $1,000 more comparably equipped.
You're kidding, right...? The xB has a 4 SPEED!! That went out of style at
LEAST in 2004. The best car in this segment is the Fit, fun to drive, great
trunk space, and good enough fuel economy.
I am thinking the same thing , although the xB doesn't get as good fuel
economy but it has a bigger engine, but xB has a bit more cargo space
behind the rear seats.
I'd take a scion XB. It gives a more sporty look with its avaliable options
and it looks more retro than something like this, which looks like every
persons car.
2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport first drive (Updated) | Consumer Reports
Consumer Reports takes a first drive of the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. Styling is much more flowing and modern than before. But blind spots have gotten worse.
+Estrading Co I bought a white santa fe turbo, I love it also, have had it a year on july 7th and have had NO problems. It is more than worth the money, considering the price of other suv's in its class.
+CARP SPUDPICKER Same here.. I just bought a 2.0 turbo last month and this SUV is one of the best I ever owned!! I love it! I definetely recommend Santa Fe to anyone who is looking for a SUV.
Thanks for the feedback im looking at purchasing one
Kia Forte Koup Review | Consumer Reports
This Kia Forte Koup offers responsive steering and impressive braking. Ride and noise aren't high points, but are better than some rivals. Find out more about ...
I just bought a 2013 forte koup about 2 months ago. Its fun to drive and
looks really nice inside and out. There is one major problem i have with it
though. The gas millage is very poor. It's suppose to get 29 city and 34
highway. I do mostly highway driving and am only getting 28 right now.
Supposedly it has a "break in period" between 5 and 10000 miles that it has
to reach but time will tell I guess. If I had known about the gas millage
problem before I would not have purchased this car.
I drive a 2006 Acura TL, I test drove this for my fiance. She and I loved
it. We are both car people and drive hard. This car handles well, is very
peppy, comfortable and great interior. It really puts honda civic and
toyota corolla to shame, as they use really poor materials, give you no
features and just don't feel as solid. I have always been a honda guy but
this made me change my mind...check it out, you won't be disapointed!
KIA could have done a lot better. The engine is rubbish (seriously, I can't
imagine that somebody would still buy a 2.4 liter naturally aspirated
engine into a sporty coupe while not having a decent amount of power and
torque), and it looks like the clutch and gearbox aren't great either. This
car is literally begging for a 2.0 Turbo with something north of 200 hp.
@Derrick021594 I think you've got it backwards there buddy. The Civic Si
has like no torque. It has 197 hp but the torque is somewhere low in the
130s, which is why I don't like it. You HAVE to rev it high to get power
out of it. My base sentra almost has the same torque as the civic. The
Forte definitely beats the Civic in torque
I'm 6'2 and I fit fine in the back seat. Your review seems kind of bias.
After test driving the civic coup, forte koup and scion t.c., the Forte had
the most responsive steering, best visibility and quietest ride. The only
complaint I really agree with is the bumpy ride.
Its meant to be a practical. Its not an all out sports car. The engine has
a throaty growl. What a tool. They stalled it? Nice. Try learing before
driving a manual. I test drove a manual hauled ass and didnt stall it wasnt
even close.
@davewhodavedunn Honda just swept the 2011 JD POWER initial quality award
in 7 vehicle segments and was the number 2 brand- behind Lexus overall,
with Acura being in third place. Try that with a Kia - well below the
industry average.
what i hate about reviews are them comparing econo boxes like these sedans
to sportscars? wtf these things even civic si's and golf gti's are nowhere
near sportscars. come one get real people!
The Forte Koup is great. Handles terrific for a car in this class. The
features offered for the price are better than Honda, Mazda. Not too
mention a person stands out.
Ford has extensively updated their midsized SUV, the Ford Edge. Some changes are improvements, but the MyFord Touch dashboard design adds layers of ...
MyFord Touch, can be laggy, and at times a bit glitchy. And Ford juat funked it up, by just rushing into it all, and not paying attention, like a bunch of idiots usually do! This is coming from a Hardcore Ford Fan, too!
I have a 2012 SEL and I love it. This moron says the powertrain is not
good? Is he kidding. Its so quiet you don't even know that its running. Its
the best vehicle I have ever owned.
Hi All,
My colleagues and I would like to share with you our issue with Ford M.E,
which is a Manufacturer problem with their “Edge & Explorer” brand that we
bought 2013-2014, that has an Intolerable burning smell inside the car
while accelerating and they are not taking any action about it until this
moment.
If there is any suggestions that can help please share it with us.
I do have the same problem, the burning smell inside the cabin. I live in El Salvador. I did try 2 Edge's and a Explorer and they all have the same problem. Engine: some times it takes too long to respond compared to a Jeep grand Cherokee. I am planning to change it. Hate the bad smell and the dealer do not know how to fix it. very disappointed.
Kia Optima Road Test | Consumer Reports
Watch our Kia Optima Road Test with this video from Consumer Reports. Get more car info on our website: //www.consumerreports.org/cro/cars/index.htm?
Although the '09 has additional standard features over the '06.5-'08, they
cheapened the interior in a lot of subtle ways. They eliminated the
metallic dash/door trim with the tan interior and got rid of the vanity
lighting. The backside of the front seats are no longer upholstered, just
hard plastic. The upper part of the door panels are no longer vinyl padded,
but hard pastic instead. The sunvisors are no longer upholstered, but some
vinyl. I also hate how they made the stereo knobs smaller.
@TheBettefrank I was considering buying a new car; the 2009 Optima was on
my list. Never got around to checking one out in person because I ended up
leasing a 2010 Accord LX. I came across new '09 Optima LX automatics for
$14200 including $3000 cash back + $500 competitive incentive (if you
already drive a competing car, you get the extra $500). I also came across
new 2009 Optima EX 4-cyl for $15995, EX w/convenience pkg for $16995, SX V6
for $17995. I believe the same incentives applied.
Kia Optima maintenance is cheap. Not much has to be done the first 100k
miles. No timing belt, no tune up, no trans fluid change. I think the only
things needing replacement are the filters and those don't cost much more
than $20 and you can replace them yourself. Don't forget that if anything
goes wrong with your Optima, it has a 10yr/100k mile warranty if bought
new, or 5yr/60k mile warranty if bought used. I've put 18k miles on my
Optima since buying it used and haven't spent a dime.
It's actually 175hp, but yes I agree. The V6 only gives you an extra 20hp.
Big whoop. So basically, by buying a V6 Optima you're paying more to get
crappier gas mileage. Pointless indeed. The 4cyl. also requires less
maintenance. It's got a timing chain that lasts the life of the engine,
versus the V6 that needs the timing BELT replaced every 60k miles. Makes
sense why Kia is selling something like 75% of Optimas with the 4cyl. It's
also quite smooth and refined. I love mine.
The EX trim is the one you want then. It is the only trim with leather. LX
has cloth. SX has cloth/lthr upholstery. All the other features you
mentioned are standard on all Optimas. the EX 4cyl. starts at $20,690 with
4cyl. Forget the V6. It eats a lot more gas and is higher maintenance for
only like 25hp more. Not sure what that guy is talking about. I have 50k
miles on my 4cyl and it runs like new. The '04 Optima has a different 4cyl
engine than the '06.5 and newer models.
Well that all depends on the year, mileage, and condition. I already told
you above what I paid for mine used. I got a really good deal though.
Optimas with manual trans tend to sell for less. They are harder to sell
since not as many people can or want to drive them. But yes, Kia resale
value is bad. They are a super used car value because of it though. Only
buy one new if you get it heavily discounted. I saw a dealership selling
new man. trans. models new for $12k on Ebay.
Yes i know that, it's the same chassis. Kia is a little less atractive than
Hyundai to me. The Sonata has a better interior and i like the restyling of
it. Hyundai/Kia should reorganize there brands cause u know they were going
to add a luxury brand for the Genesis and the Equus. Both brands have
luxury cars; Amanti, Genesis, Azera. How do you think Hyundai/Korea should
be? Scion/Toyota/Lexus is a great example of how car types should be
organized.
0:30 - I don't know WHERE this guy is coming from, but my 08 Optima has a
lot more road feel and felt more stable than the 2005 Chevy Malibu I
replaced with it! The Malibu electric steering gave ZERO feedback compared
to my Optima's hydraulic conventional steering, and the Optima steering
centered promptly coming out of a turn. There's maneuvers I could do in my
Optima that I wouldn't dare attempt in the 05 Malibu.
eww Chevy, the Honda v6 for the accord sedan feels like it has no torque.
As for Toyota I've never driven a v6 Camry so can't comment on that. Plus,
that car is driven by the living dead. I'd have to be dead in a Camry. Yes
i don't like Kia( the styling is bland), but Hyundai is awesome; I'm loving
the Sonata and new Genesis sedan. So that shows I'm not against Korean
cars, not stereotypical to them at all.
thats was good deal.i would like to buy a brand new not really fully
loaded,but at least with leather seats/pwr windows/locks/heated
mirrors,A/C,that would be my main features.i dont worry about stereo
because i would defiantly put aftermarket.and i think i could get that on
EX?and white in color with beige interior. i saw this guy with an optima 04
with 110,000miles and he saying the engine will blow out?
well thats a good review from you and gives more confidence :) this car has
a lot of standard features compared to its competitors and very nie price.i
think the firmness over bumps could because of the tires(stock),maybe if
you change and put different ones it could be better.i think u sold me on
this one.first one that i will look at.how much did u buy urs and was it
loaded?
If you want a good car and bang for your buck, Kia is a good choice. That's
why I bought my Optima. I wanted something midsize, safe, quiet, smooth,
and comfortable. A comparable Accord or Camry would have cost THOUSANDS
more that I didn't have to spend. I don't regret my decision at all. Very
nice car for the money. Optima rides very smooth, but it does ride firm
over bumps.
V6 is a disappointment,it takes 9secs from 0-60. i was wondering are kia
really good?because i read on a review that its not a smooth ride, you feel
the crappy roads, cracks etc?i have civic(flat rear floor) as a choice but
have to splash out lots of money and it comes limited most of the stuff are
package/optional compared to kia.i want bang for my buck.
I don't know if you're talking about buying one brand-new or used. I bought
mine used. 2006.5 with 32k miles for $7,900. Was a great deal. Love the
car. Mine is the LX 4cyl. with manual transmission. Has pwr
windows/locks/mirrors, 6-speaker CD stereo, A/C. That's what I wanted. If
you're talking brand-new fully loaded, it stickers for about $24k.
Just bouth my daughter a KIA Soul and the salesman was talking about trying
to get me into a 2009 KIA Optima, new, been sitting on the lot. He said
they were going to drastically reduce the price to get rid of the few they
still had. Has anyone purchase a 2009 and can give me an idea of what a
truley "good price" would be on this car? Thanks.
The Kia Optima is a very good car. I have one right now which is a 2002,
and it has no major problems with it at all. I've just had to replace the
front axle, because of a previous wreck , but other than that, everything
is in good shape for an '02. I wish to trade it in for a newer Optima, like
a 2009, or 2010 here soon :)
This car is super inexpensive. Local dealers are advertising automatic cars
for less than $14,000. This is $6,000 less than an Accord. Looks live a
very good value. I also like the USB port input so I can use a thumb drive
to store music. Much better and easier to use than a 6 disk CD changer.
Honda accord is a great ride. I had 1997 civic talk about uncomfy seats! Im
considering a Kia Optima from my Toyota Corolla i like my yota but want
black with tan interior car. Not even considering yota because of price. If
i can pickup a brand new Kia Optima 12k with auto im down!
ooh'kay....my worry about kia is kia is that it will be expensive to
maintain compared to its competitors.how has ur optima been considering it
was used one>?i plan to get a car next year and civic, mazda 3(not the
newdesign) are considered.but i really like optima :)
36,000 trouble free miles on the drive train. Bought brand new in 2008.
Mine was an 07 sitting on the lot with 2 miles on it. Paid 11k. Love this
car for what it is. Get back and forth to work, buy crap at the store and
stuff it in the huge trunk.
I'll not buy a Korean product due to hearing too many reports of our
service personnel being beaten up ... and not allowed to go into
nightclubs. To me that's outrageous since we've been protecting them from
their northern neighbors for so long!
I checked one of these out 2 months ago because it looks liks a knock off
Honda Accord, nice car, dont listen to this guy, the V-6 kicks ass and the
interior is up to par as any other midsize car
I have an 07 I think it's the only one that's not hideous before 6.5 were
dumb and now the front and interior sucks in them mine is 5speed and as
fast as the new v6
I'll be getting my first car in a few months and I've really been thinking
about getting a Kia. Right now I'm going back and forth between the Optima
or the Forte
@fredisaqueef Opt for the SX V6, More fun, More power, EXCELLENT warantee,
and its safe, 5 Star crash rating and its reliable. My Source: I own a 04
Kia Optima
ok....this guy is for "consumer".but kia is coming good, how much is a used
one with low mileage?i saw a report that kia was among the worst resale
cars :)
@hey which car dealer was this? I'm interested in getting this car and i
need to know whats up
Best Cars for Teens | Consumer Reports
The number one killer among young drivers is car crashes. So when car shopping for your teen, safety is the top priority. But a bigger vehicle isn't necessary ...
+evoking12345 Yeah it's really stupid how we are seen as children. You'd think we had no skills at all. This list has all shitty cars. There is many better cars for teens on the market, you just have to shop around.
You think its bad in dollars lol Here in uk I have to drive a 16 second car that's how expensive our stupid ass insurance is, fucking ridiculous how they stereotype us, as if were a wreckless bunch of idiots ...
Yeah I'd rather have a Mustang or some other car that has a lot of horsepower. But hey, as long as it's not a piece of junk and too small I'll take any car. I'm about 6 feet tall which means I'll need a larger sedan or a smaller SUV.
