2013 World Series, Game 6: Cardinals at Red Sox- October 30, 2013
SLN AT BOS - October 30, 2013 Boston secured its third World Series crown since 2004, and its first home clincher since 1918. The Sox handed Michael Wacha ...
This win was revenge for the 1967 World Series. Just like the 2004 world
series was revenge for the 1946 World series. It worked out perfectly. Now
the Red Sox need revenge against the Mets and Reds.
+Daniel EvansActually there is. All sports is a competition including baseball. For example the 2004 ALCS was revenge for the 2003 ALCS. You need to expand your mind to understand my stand point.
+Rangoon RacoonThis may be true. But if you look at history the Red Sox were beaten in 1946 and 1967 by the Cardinals when the Sox were so close to beating them. With 2004 & 2013 it was avenging those world series tiles.
+Identified Flying GamerTrust me this team is going to remain in last place. every time they win 2 games in a row they wind up losing three in a row. Then they win 2 again in a row and then lose the next two. If this trend keeps happening they surely will not get any further than 4th place. They need to just throw in the towel at this point. They are now 8 games back from first place with 4 teams ahead of them. They are 7 games back in the wild card with 13 teams ahead of them. That's a recipe for waving the white flag and surrendering. There's just too many mistakes and poor performances on this team. Everyone's been saying that there is a lot of baseball left to be played. But that has been said since April and three months later here they are still stuck in the basement of the AL East. The Baltimore Orioles continue to kick their ass in every game. That's one team they just can't seem to beat. When the pitching is good they can't hit. When they are hitting and scoring runs the pitcher gives back runs. This is time to make some bold moves. I'm sorry to say it but this current roster just isn't going to cut it. We need another reset button and be willing to part ways with some favorites like Dustin Pedroia and Mike Napoli. Because if we keep going the way we are going and holding on to under performing, ineffective, and often injured players then we will remain in last place. It's time to take risks and spend money in the right places. This team can be very successful if they are willing to be bold and cut lose some stars and get some young talent back that are very effective. They need to send Rick Porcello to the minors and get 2 aces Johnny Cueto and Sonny Gray.
+Identified Flying GamerI disagree with you at this point. The 2015 Red Sox isn't a good team. It is an unfinished team with a lot of holes that need fixing. Just like the 2013 team plugged all of the holes the 2012 team had which is why they won the world series. I don't believe the Red Sox would be any better with Jon Lester. He isn't really dominating with his new team. He is playing exactly like I envisioned him to play. I never really liked Jon Lester that much and was glad that he didn't resign with the Sox. He is overrated and his stats in Chicago backs that up. He is not an ace and fans like you need to realize this, He is at most a #3 starter in the regular season and a #2 Starter in the playoffs. Not a true #1 Ace. An ace is Felix Hernandez, Sonny Gray, David Price, Zack Grenkie, Gary Richards, Chris Sale, Dallas Keuchel, Doug Fister, Johnny Cueato, George Zimmerman, and Max Sherzer. Not Jon Lester. John Lackey was great but even he started to deteriorate after a while both pitchers were on the team last year and the team wound up in last place. So i don't think that things would be that different. At most they'd have maybe 2 or 3 more wins and still be in last place. This team needs bold moves in order to at least grab the second wild card. I don't see them winning the division or the first wild card unless they going on 7-10 game winning streaks. First thing I would do if I were GM is to trade Dustin Pedroia, Shane Victorino, Clay Buccholz, Mike Napoli, and Jackie Bradley Jr, Get rid of them and get rid of them fast while they still have some kind of quality. Move Brock Holt to First Base platoon with David Ortiz. Make Hanley Ramirez DH. Trade for Scooter Gennett from the Brewers and make him the new second baseman. Get Johnny Cueto from the Reds and Sonny Gray from the A's. Put Brian Johnson in the rotation. Put Steven Wright in the bullpen. So the rotation will consist of Brian Johnson, Eduado Rodriguez, Johnny Cueto, Sonny Gray, and Wade Miley. Trade Rick Porcello or send him to Pawtucket. Get Corey Hart from the Pirates and put him in right field. Then try to get some prospects to restore the minor league system. Those moves right there will put the Red Sox right in contention again and give them a chance to win this year and next year.
+Identified Flying GamerThe problem is there are a lot of teams ahead of them and so far this year whenever they take one step forward they take 5 steps back. They had the perfect opportunity to make some damage against the Yankees and be only 2 games out. But the Red Sox still playing the same song and dance manage to blow the chance and they are now 7 games out. They look like sellers to me. They just can't seem to just go on a streak. If they can win 7 in a row then there is a chance. If they keep winning 2 then losing 2 they won't go anywhere.
