2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 - Plentiful Power Priced Right

I have no problem with legit digs on the car like the interior but its
wrong to say the car needs a better brake system for the track. Like
nearly all cars, it does need track specific pads to be driven at 9/10ths.
I also have spindle ducts and run SRF fluid and my brakes hold up to
crushing late braking corner after corner all day long. And unlike C6Z06
brakes, the pads and rotors are cheap and they fit a 17" wheel allowing the
use of much cheaper tires.I also don't think you understand how Competitive
Driving mode works. Its not that the Active Handling System allows you
more slip angle in Competitive Driving, it just means that traction control
is turned off and Active Handling is left on.
+The Hooniverse There is difference between changing pads and adding ducts and changing the brake system. Needing a better system would mean having to replace the system with a different one. Installing track pads and ducts is par for the course for just about any street car to run 9/10ths this side of carbon ceramics. Since the car only needs the same basic changes just about every other car needs done to the stock brake system, it is wrong to say the car needs a better brake system for the track. That implies needing to change the brake system, which is just not true.As for Competitive Driving mode, its not really saying the same thing as the Active Handling System's settings like slip angle do not change when in Competitive Driving so what you said is misleading and indicates ignorance of what is actually going on. There are really just three simple settings. 1) AH on / TC on = normal driving mode. 2) AH on / TC off = Comp mode 3) AH off / TC off = OFF. The system is not like more modern, more sophisticated systems that have different levels of AH which is what I would think by watching your video if I didn't already know better.
+01Z06guy Did you just say it's wrong to state the car needs a better brake system for the track... and then talk about an upgraded brake system for the track? And this "I also don't think you understand how Competitive Driving mode works. Its not that the Active Handling System allows you more slip angle in Competitive Driving, it just means that traction control is turned off and Active Handling is left on."It's basically the same thing as saying "Competitive Driving Mode allows you more slip angle..."
+donnyinlakai561 I try to at least somewhat know the cars I'm talking about. I'm not perfect, I don't know each and every detail as some of the owners of them. I just know...enough.
I bought a 43k mile 2003 C5 Z06 a few months ago...came with exhaust, oil
cooler, Bilstein sport shocks, intake, and other comfort mods. Got it for
less than the price of a new Fiesta ST. The performance it offers, blows my
mind every time I dip into the throttle, or go through an onramp 3x faster
than I'm supposed to.
+donnyinlakai561 If I did it over again, I'd have spent the extra $2-300 and arranged for the car to undergo a pre-purchase inspection. I knew all the common C5 problems, but there were a few more that my car had, that I didn't know about. A PPI would've helped me make a more informed decision. The biggest thing a PPI would have told me is, that the crazy loud road noise wasn't normal, and was not the tires, which I had replaced. Turns out it was the wheel bearings. As it is, my car is still around the same price or slightly cheaper than one of the same condition or mileage, and I have the benefit of having fresh parts.
19.5k, off eBay Motors "Buy It Now." I chatted to the seller, had a buyer for my old car. It wasn't perfect though, I've put nearly 3k into the car on maintenance and minor repairs.

2002 Corvette Z06 Headers/Intake Accelerations and FlyBys
After uploading a video showing my Z on the dyno, I figured that I needed to make a video showing what the new exhaust sounds like from inside, as well as ...
Light throttle cruising it was really docile. It opened up a bit once you got on it. Nowhere near as loud as it is right now with the straight pipes and no cats. You'll love the Corsa exhaust. They sound awesome and are a quality piece.
+bigkarl24 The Hurst was okay. It had its pros and cons. I loved how precise and accurate it was, but it was certainly very notchy and I did experience issues getting the shifter into first gear and reverse. Took a little bit of muscle to get it into gear sometimes. I have an MGW shifter that is coming in soon. I've heard nothing but great things about it so it should be much better than the Hurst.
+EDWARD GUERRERO I have a couple videos up of this doing quarter mile races at my local tracks, along with one video of the car on a road course. I'm putting in a new clutch setup before I do anything else since my slave/throw out bearing assembly is on it's last leg.
M3's are high 12's/360rwhp stock. Nothing special, they are a drivers car.
Just fun enough to DD, take to the track and do some quick sprints. It's
kind of out of its playing field trying to roll race with a bolt on Z06.
Now a base C5, yes, but not a bolt on Z06. You don't buy a M3 to expect to
win drag races lol, just drive it to work and back and put on your aviators
and look cool.-Fellow M3 owner
+quinner444 What altitude and temp outside? I'm just curious since motor trend or road and track etc. only did a test that I can find a vid of for the 385hp 2001 Z06 as I'm sure you know. Some vid of an 02-04 acceleration would be awesome.
lol exactly. The M3 is out of its league. I've owned a few different cars over the years (Evo IX, 04 Cobra with a KB 2.2, 12' GT500, 11' 5.0) and I can tell you I wouldn't even waste my gas trying to roll race a Z06 unless I had a supercharger and was putting around 450rwhp down
Also for the record as an 03 Cobra owner I can tell you a Chevy owners idea
of bolt on's is changing Pistons, heads, cams, basically anything that the
motor couldn't live without.
That Z06 has ported heads and I'm guessing cams (those LS motors typically
don't gain anything unless you do both.) VS a car with a tune and an
exhaust. Get real ladies and gentleman.
+DrBIeed LS motor with cams you say? LOL Go learn you something before commenting... Stock cammed ls1s have made over 400rwhp with the stock untouched heads time and time again. I'm not a ls guy, but damn dude your flat talking out of your ass.
This is kind of a joke. To discredit the M3 because it can't best a 3100lbs
car with a minimum of 500hp (with those heads).
The only saving grace here is that the Bimmers doors don't rattle to pieces
when you close them.
Cool car but I agree that all of the accessories are stupid. I like the
black taillights because it contrasts well with the red, but I would ditch
everything else. The floor mats definitely look wrong. The first things I
would add would be a dash mat, a locking gas cap, and blacked out windows.
Then a loud ass exhaust and sticky tires.
+trollArceStaff wiiYup. I would get AFR heads, a big FI cam, long tube headers, forged rods and pistons, and then a huge F1 Procharger. I would also get a nice roll cage installed.
Looks good overall but ditch the auto zone special floor mats. Makes your
originally expensive car look cheap and riceerish. Just my opinion may not
be right, but trust me I'm right!
hey dude what was the company that made the mod to eliminate the fuel
saving shifting bs that gm did. you know the thing gm did that would make
you shift from 1st to 4th if you weren't driving hard? thanks in advance
I know that there's a couple of different companies that offer the harness that eliminates that feature. If you Google search "cags eliminator" you'll find a bunch of them. That feature was turned off when I had my car tuned after the headers and intake were installed.
+free goofy Yes, the LS6 is still a 5.7. Like I said, it's essentially just an LS1 with different heads, intake and cam along with a higher compression ratio.
+free goofy Dude, you clearly don't know what you're talking about. The C5 Z06s never had the LS2, which didn't come out until 2005 for the C6 Corvettes. They only lasted until 2007 and were replaced in 2008 with the LS3. The 2001-2004 C5 Z06s had the LS6. The LS6 is just an LS1 with 243 heads, LS6 specific cam and intake, 10.5:1 compression and sodium filled valves. The LS6 also has a bit different block structure compared to the LS1 featuring windows cast into the block between cylinders, improved main web strength and bay to bay breathing. Besides, you could have also found out all of the information I just put here by just doing a simple Google search or finding the info on Wikipedia.
+1994C4Vette nice, I have c5 conv. with bolt ons also firehawk conv. with bolt ons and keep them nice with carbon fiber and chrome toys. Winter time I only drive them when the roads are clean from salt, that's the way to keep them that way. 4x4 f250 plays in the snow instead;)
From my experience with Corvettes, the brakes aren't what they should be. My hardtop has itty bitty rotors, there's so much empty space in the wheels lol
