@CDFoakley No, Not at all but because of all the many pharmacutical shills/disinformation agents that visit these sites & argue with people, I felt it was important to get this infomation out there. I will continue to look up info & subscribe to Natural News or where ever I can keep abreast of what's happening. I know Andrew Wakefield was horribly falsely accussed by the fraudulant Brian Deer & it's important to keep oneself informed of what's going on. I wish you the very best & hope he gtsbetr

It certainly helps with seizures. Before I was put on Topamax I was having 3-5 tonic-clonics a week, I'd have a tiny amount of cannabis and my seizures would stop for over a week. It also has a calming effect and helps a little with SIB, stimming and sensory overload. But then again, every person on the spectrum is unique, and what works with one person might not work with another. By the way, @CDFoakley, are you still using the nicotine patch therapy with Jamey? and how has he been lately? xx

My 19 yrs old ASD son didn't start drug treatment untill 17th due to severe aggression and self injured : risperidone didn't work but developed more aggression lead to crisis . Now, he is on Naltrexone 150 mg ( doses base on his weight) I can see some benefits but I'm not sure that it would work for the long term , He has been taking this drug for 6 weeks and I can see the benefit of it : more cheerful, increased socialization , emotional improved , feel the pain, decreased self-stimulatory .

@TypesEvilAspieEyes 5 HTP targets the 5 HT (serotonin) receptors in the brain, which affect things like GI motility, learning, memory, behavior, sleep, locomotion, etc.... THE problem is 5 HTP itself may not hit ALL the receptors (there are severeal HT receptors) and some autistic persons need specific or ALL receptors targeted for homeostasis, along with targeting Dopamine receptors as in D1-D4 receptors....L-Tryosine, for example, targets dopamine receptors, but remains ambigious which ones

@Freedom21: We can't blame vaccinations without concrete proof. Is it possible? Yes, but then why isn't every child "made autistic" by vaccines? Are just some vials tainted with mercury? or some vials have too many toxins? Or are some kids more vulnerable to vaccines? My focus is making my son healthier, happier and not obsessing over whehter vaccines made him autistic. I used to consider this, but there are other people in my family with autistic like behaviors...so genetics may be factor

@baaker1 Uh, Perhaps you are using google translator because I think you mean take him to hosptial and get "surgery" on brain to help stop seizures...that is not an option, as I don't trust doctors cutting open my son's head and messing with his brain. No way. Now, if he were dropping on floor ever hour, having seizures, maybe I'd consider it, but there are BETTER safer ways for him to be healed than brain surgery. 5-HTP is a wonderful supplement. A critical ADJUNCT to his therapy.

Yes there is a genetic factor some people are more sensitive than others, and for all we know the government could be putting more toxins in vaccines then other batches. I don't believe God would tell us to live life abundantly, and have children to have them turn out this way. It is like our kids are dead already in another world suffering all on their own. When government talks about reducing the population think about that people will have babies it just won't happen on its own.

Of course, shortly after we started 5-HTP, he acquired SINUSITUS, which is going around school, so we've had about 2 1/2 weeks of insane, brutal self-abuse, as he's punching his nose (probably because of sinus pressure). He doesn't understand that he's sick, so anytime he's ill, we are looking at non stop SIB until the illness is completely gone. It took weeks of anti-biotic treatment, but he's much better and we're continuing 5-HTP -as part of multi-therapy, with positive results.

I have some videos....just wanted to say that the few autistics I have seen who self-injure continuously have over 50-100 "lights of superinfection" (Staph, Strep) trapped in the aura of their torso......and like.....nobody, I mean.......nobody I have ever seen in life has that........see one of my videos 6-8 min. in on autism....I quite frankly would punch myself if I had that many "lights of infection in my aura"......nobody else I have seen n 40years has that kind of aura

Glad to hear possible benefits for Jamey, There are several studies published with regard to tryptophan deficiencies in autism stemming from its role in serotonin metabolism. One rather unethical one showed outcomes of purposely depleting ASD children of tryptophan: greatly worsened autistic behaviors. Checking all essential amino acids levels, looking for both depletion and excess is an important part of an investigation for anyone with a developmental condition.

5 HTP is great for relaxation, so is L Theanine. My son is 14 with moderate autism. We did the shirt chewing for while, but that stopped. The crunchy salty food has not yet ended. All progress is great. These supplements replace what is missing, because of our kids crazy diets. He would have gotten 5 HTP from meat. It is the precursor for serotonin production. My son's level is still low. I hope things continue to get better for your family.

Mercury can affect people in different ways depending on how the body handles it that is why some kids may have it worse than others. I read this when I looked into mercury poisoning instead of vaccines. A couple in Italy won a lawsuit after her son had similar autistics behaviors after the mmr shot. Many people don't realize the government wants total control, and us to be their slaves. The illuminati has already started population control.

5-HTP also seems to reduce his vocalizations. The problem with 5-HTP is you can't give it with food, and that's mainly when he'll take pills. It isn't as easily absorbed when food is given. I believe Celexa has been shown to help reduce vocalizations and some SIB in SOME autistics. It all depends on WHAT their brain needs. Is it dopamine? Serotonin? Norepinephrine? So many neurochemicals at play, it's all about balancing them...it's hard.

y child is 7 years old. He was diagnosed with atypical autism. From November 2012 began with episodes of self-harm. She was advised to take him to a psychiatrist in which he was given his psychiatric medications including depacote, lexapro, etc.. had a slight improvement. until I found this product in which I started on July 20, 2013 and given the child a drastic change in a week and not have those episidios

Perhaps the reason he's hitting his head is he has a headache and he isn't able to tell you.Plus he's reacting to whatever drug you ave him on.Side effects that we have the ability to express what we're feeling autistic can't always express how they're feeling on meds.Honestly sometimes I think we forget how frustrating it is too be handicapped and then we add drugs to that.No wonder they hit their heads.

I've seen a lot of autistic people who are Hispanic, Asian and Black, so I don't think anyone's targeting white people. And there are people in high levels of government who have autistic children, cousins, uncles, nephews or brothers or sisters, so I doubt this is a population control issue. It's a medical issue in which we must all work together to find hope, healing and help.

well at the same time, a man was in trouble for putting a study of the link between vaccines and autism on the table. which he was apparently hired by law firms to post a bogus article so they could build a case against pharmaceutical companies. fine than dont vaccinate your kids, but than you put them at a much bigger risk of all the viruses and infections that will come along.

no , actually 5-HTP works by converting to 5-HT (serotonin) after crossing into the brain. This 5-HT (serotonin) then activates the serotonin receptors, ALL serotonin receptors. L-Tyrosine does not activate dopamine receptors, rather it converts to L-DOPA, which then converts to dopamine. If you want more dopamine effect, take L-DOPA supplements instead of L-tyrosine.

Seems like he is a troll. I think jamey is cool. Don't take this the wrong way, but ever tried Cannabinoids? I've heard about some great success with them and autism. Sure you have heard of medical legal cannabis so if you want to give it a try, go ahead. i don't know of any interference between 5htp and cannabinoids, but you should for safety sake only administer one.

5-HTP is a metabolite of tryptophan, an essential amino acid (i.e. that cannot manufactured by the body) that is important for serotonin, melatonin and other neurotoxic and neurotrophic functions. As many know inability to metabolize another amino acid, Phenylalanine leads to another developmental disorder, PKU that is associated with mental retardation if untreated.

I'm so happy to see your son is better! I have a 6 y.o. son with autism, treatment resistant too. Could you please give any links where i can read about this therapy? We desperately are looking for help and anything works. We're Polish but living in NYC. We have tried so many treatments, diets , nothing works. Your son in in my everyday prayers. God bless him!

Statistics show mostly white people are affected by autism. Nobody else in my family is going through this. I think they are targeting certain people because white people have built, and over thrown governments. It would be interesting to find out if anyone in government has autistic children. You genetics also determine wether or not your sensitive to metals.

@udontsay1313 5-Htp definately helps REDUCE overall behavior/ and increase mood, but sadly, I don't think anything outside a miracle will ever totally eliminate the self-injurious attacks (as we call them, since they are so unpredicatable). No, my son doesn't attack others. I agree with you, it's tough to find things that work and you have to tread lightly

lol. I feel sorry for autistic people because of mercury put into vaccines. When your baby is born these days they shoot it up with like 8 different vaccines within a year. There is a direct correlation between the mercury derivitaves in the vaccine & the huge increase in autism. It's sad really to see that this could have probably been prevented.

When the people used to be in mental hospitals. Those people also had autism from vaccines. People had reactions from the small pox vaccine. People also developed cancer later in life from recieving vaccines. This is not something that is new all of this in history can be looked up. The only difference is they don't use mental hospitals anymore.

Thank you for posting this video:) I have a lot of respect for loving parents such as yourself. I have Asperger's and two of my close family members have Down Syndrome (what did they put in the water in the 80's lol?!). It's unfortunate that people leave such negative comments. Please, ignore them and continue to spread awareness for Autism.
