New Insights Into 'The Mind's Eye'
SciShow explores a newly identified neurological condition, aphantasia, the inability to visualize things in your imagination, and gives tribute to Dr. Oliver Sacks, ...
Wow--this is scary. I'm and INTP and I think almost exclusively in terms of
logical progression maps and flow charts as well as 3/4 turned exploded
diagrams. I can't think of a single ailment I'd want LESS than Aphantasia.
That's like my own private version of the deepest circle of Hell (if I
believed in Hell). *shudder*
I get vivid intrusive thoughts which are images in my head that show
against my will, usually of stuff I'm afraid of happening/doing... Would
that be like the opposite of aphantasia? (Even though it's tied with
anxiety and such, a whole other story.) These scenes just pop in my head
without my permission, but there's a whole lot more knowledge in the fields
of things like that than there apparently is for aphantasia....
+LivyLew42's Awesome Party of Videos those are intrusive thoughts that can be linked to anxiety. if i remember correctly, it is thought that they are a result of your brain attempting to predict situations in order for you to be prepared when they occur. but people with over active imaginations get them more often. its best to close your eyes, allow the thoughts into your head and realize how ridiculous it is for you to think they would ever happen. just ask yourself, would this ever actually happen? would i ever do this? and thats usually enough to get your brain to realize that its planning for something very unrealistic. they dont go away but you can get better at dealing with them. i suggest taking up art, writing or music or something along those lines and using those terrible thoughts to create dark and twisted forms of art.it really becomes much easier to deal with when you accept them as a part of you.
Wait, people can conjure up taste and smell on demand? I know you can
remember what something taste or smell like but to conjure up the sensation
itself? Why would we need to eat anything that taste good at all then? So I
can just sit around one day and go, "You know what? I really feel like some
chicken right now" and then close my closes and go, "Mmmmm, that some damn
good chicken."
Aphantasia is a key target of new world order ideology. The ability to
visualize is being slowly eradicated from our species. One day it will be
gone. It is a scary thought for those of us who visualize a great deal.
By pushing video and demonizing both books and talk radio/ spoken audio. And also by chemically attacking the pineal gland with massive overdoses of drugs and vaccines. Some would argue the pineal gland serves a key role in major cognitive experiences, such as epiphanies, which occur out of basic visualization.
+what a funny joke brain has many capabilities which are blocked/suppressed and L can unlock them.. ofc what I said about curing is just a theory, but if I had aphantasia and wanted to cure it, this would be the way
+LordShading For me, I can't imagine taste, smells, or pictures. Whenever I close my eyes, it's just black. I never knew people actually see picture as they do with their eyes open until a few days ago
It really depends on the severity of your condition. I believe I have quite the high degree of Aphantasia. I can't picture things in my head, nor tastes or smells, but I can conjure up sounds. If I'm talking with my friend over the phone I know what they look like, but at the same time I don't. I know all the details, but I just can put them together in my head.As far as I know my relationships with others are not really effected. Out of my friends I can notice someone I know in a crowd faster than any of them.
Is there a condition which is the opposite of Aphantasia? A condition where
a person's imagination/simulation ability is so powerful they can construct
entire worlds within their mind, experience a four-course meal they've
never tasted, hear a symphony or opera they've never been to?
+UnitZER0 I love that there are people like this...I think or are you just wondering if it is possible. If so then yes. I tend to go to a world being invaded by paratroopers and drop ships for fun. My crew and I always end up creating a resestince where I die jumping on a grenade lol

Dr. Borchert's research primarily focuses on the development of the optic nerve and its retinotopic connections in the tectum (part of the midbrain) and thalamus ...
