Here's the catch: 80+% of the cost of the car are metal parts and you can't 3D print with metal (you can actually - it's just stupid inefficient and not solid at all): the frame, the transmission, the motor, the wheels...Then there are the more specific parts like glass windows that also needs to be massed produced: computer chips, electric wiring, for an electric car, you need batteries (witch are crazy expansive), transformers, electric motors, cooling, etc, etc, etc....For the plastic parts of the car like the dashboard and...potentially the exterior, it is FARRRR more efficient to make the parts in factory, but it's possible to 3D print them and could be more efficient to do so if you would otherwise need to transport the pieces over to mars or something...Bottom line: yes the technology will improve but the principle and benefits of 3D printing is not in making precise or moving parts like we need in cars.

+jonaboy3if you really have to know...the majority costs of car is LABOUR and union fees and employee benefits and health and injury claims., not to mention 4-6wks paid vacation per year, and then add paid government holidays etc.so if you just print a damn car, the cost is very very low, you just buy the essential parts and drill it in.at the end of the day, you can still have a quality car for cheaper, because NO employee whatsoever is hired for this.you can do it yourself even, if you read and study automechanics.

+jonaboy3thx, you just explained to me why a real car cost that much and all it's glory,and  why this  3d printed car cost less,  and the disadvantages associated with it.i think people know that already. ROFLwhat you need to do is ask yourself,do you want to buy it or not,  plain and simple.you buy it, you know what you getting yourself into,  as same with any purchases, know what you are getting  with your money,and know what to expect.end of story.

+tyjghjghhh I just want to point out that this is "not" a 3D printed car and it does not forecast that 3D printed cars will be a thing in the next 30 years.It is a 3D printed car body made by a 100,000+$ machine that has some old car parts screwed to it. The plastic frame can not and will never withstand the stress of high speed (this is why is has a 40 km/h limit).There is a reason why new cars still cost over $15k even with the massive competition between car makers: It's because it is quality, precision, highly engineered work, not just a couple of parts screwed together.20% of the reason this car looks good is because of the $5k+ wheels it has...we are talking about affordable transportation right, not bmw or lexus?

I just won't to say it a little bit I'm to lazy to build,i know how a real UFO could work just magnets make a rc with a ring tube with a magnet ball spinning around in it with three magnet balls on the top of it like helicopter you know and a magnet on the out side of the ring tube like pulleys and leavers, that might work make little rc UFOs magnet ball shaped yfos for peoples kids to fly around I just won't to see it you know what I meen
