The little white/blue/red circle that indicates if your phone is water damaged. its unde the battery cover part at the top or bottom depending on your model. the water damage indicator doesnt matter @vision101. if its working the indicator is useless as it only changes when water gets to it its irreversable. Anyway this method is one way of fixing it, but I can vouch that the rice method is full proof. i have dropped my phone in the sink, bath and toilet and i left it in a lunch box for 1-2 week

I just got fudged it look like... I got a blackberry 9930 from a friend for 50 bucks that has a battery sign with red "x" on the screen and will not turn on! It's been non functional for a while from what I was told due to water damage. I did all the steps and now 48 hours later when I put the battery (new battery) in it, it will not even show the battery sign anymore.I am not saying this method don't work.. maybe it would have work for me if the device was recently dropped in water.suggestions?

lunchbox (air tight) and filled it with dry NOT BOILED rice submerging all the visible components of the inside battery part and it works every time. I can gaurentee this, but for the sake of not being wrong/if it doesn't work for your phone, 9800 most certainly does. To avoid confusion, remove battery and cover. Idk if it matters but better safe than sorry, put battery in too but beside the phone in the lunchbox and NOT inside. If the rice thing fails at 1st I suggest Jukes method then the rice

"I had water damage from 6 months ago that slowly killed my phone. Six months later THIS METHOD FIXED MY PHONE. I couldn't find 99% isopropyl alcohol but i used EVERCLEAR. You really just need a clear liquid that will have a drying affect, 100% alcohol content should work; like EVERCLEAR or White Rum. but the content must be 100%. you can put some in a small cup and light it on fire to ensure it doesn't have water in it. Soak for 2 days in rice, 1 isn't enough. Everything wont be dry in 24hrs."

Hey Jason, I was going to bed two nights ago abt 2am(aprox 42 hours ago) I was exhausted and fatigued and I was plugging my phone in to charge for the night and not realizing put my blackberry curve into a cup that had water into it. It went up to about the top row of the keypad, I put it in rice the morning after when i realized what I had done, The phone turns on, The screen works fine and I still receive calls text etc, but the keypad doesn't work, could this method of yours fix the keypad?

"my phone has been down for a week since I dropped in in the toilet with throw up for some hours... very disgustin I know... I didnt find my phone until the next morning. I dried it off and put it in some rice, since then I have been able to use my phone to make calls, but the screen does not light up but it tries to come on! I ran across your video, so i went to get all the supplies you listed in the video, the only thing is, is that my phone is made differently from yours so all the screws"

My friend dropped her blackberry 9700 in a toilet ! I used this kind of technique but fully dried the phone off with a hairdrier when it was stripped down. I then used a paintbrush and Industrial methylated spirit 95% as this is all my chemist had and just splodged it on. I dont reccomend dipping as if you submerse the board it might to lead to later problems and longer drieing. I left 5 minutes put the board on newspaper then dried it out with a hairdrier put it back together and worked !

Hey Juke, similar question to TheLaw2009. Will the process still potentially work if a full week has passed? I left the phone in rice after the water but it would not turn on for the past week, then today it managed to display the no battery symbol on the screen when I plugged it in to charge. I really want to try this but only if I have some idea of whether it could still work. Thanks so much, really doing everyone a big favour.

I got my Blackberry 9860 wet on a night out, i dried it and left it in rice for about 17 hours, i have turned it on a few time in-between to see if it works, i found that the touch screen still works (its still a bit iffy) but none of the buttons work, meaning that when i go into an application for example, i can't press the 'return' button and therefore have to take the battery out to get the the main menu. can you help?

i dunno whats wrong with my phone - the sticker near to the gold bit where the battery links up to is red (indicating water damage) but the battery sticker is white which has me puzzled - its not turning on although when trying the battery in another phone it worked so i know for sure its not the battery but what do i do with the phone because its been that way for just over a week now and i really need it back :'(

This works! Saved my Blackberry bold 9900 last night. It was submerged in water for 3 to 5 minutes. I work as a heavy duty mechanic and found it in the shop floor drain. No rice was close so battery was quickly pulled and phone was thrown into a bag of floor dry in our shop. In the meantime I watched this video and did the steps one by one and everything is works now! Thanks for the video.
