Hey all, today Evan and I replaced a broken valve cover and cleaned up all sensors and the throttle body. In addition we gave it an oil change and cleaned up ...
hello, i got a problem, the hood latch on my intrepid is not working i
tried pulling the cable with pliers but no luck, i tried to user a pryer
bar but only thing it did is a huge dent, hopefully you guys have an idea
and if you do make a video please. thanks
Same thing happened in my fiat was a blown head gasket which cost me a
small fortune as they need to strip the engine. Get it checked out as even
if you clean out the gunk the damage is already done
I asked around and read a message board that thewolfepit sent me. I checked all the other indicators and at this time, there does not seem to be a major problem. I just need to monitor the situation more regular for a while. I'm going to make a followup video soon.
because of this long winter ur engine is not warming up fully to vaporize
the water in the oil...more frequent oil changes, assuming ur not leaking
coolant.
+saltyshellback I would also take her out on the highway for a at least a good half hour to warm up the engine and clear out the moisture in the oil twice a month or so. good luck, I know how expensive Mercs can be,
Thanks Homer..lol So far everything else looks good. Coolant levels are unchanged, and no white smoke out the tailpipe. I'll have to keep an eye out for any changes to see if it gets worse..
My Harley used to get it in the wintertime. If I was only riding short distances that would happen. The engine was not getting warm enough to boil the water vapor off. I would keep an eye on your coolant level. The folks may be right about a head gasket or cracked head.
Yup, just never seen anything like that before even when I lived in Indiana.
2002 Dodge Stratus 2.7L best running sludge engine
I and my family have had this car since 2003. From 500miles on the cluster to 140pluse thousand miles now.. since 2010 the car actualy has 150thousand miles ...
dude no wonder your engine is sludging, theres a reason why the
manufacturer tells you to put a certain type of viscosity oil, you always
FOLLOW OEM SPECIFICATIONS and stick to 5W30 grade because that is what this
car calls for, 10w30 and 40 are too thick which is why your engine is
sludging. 5W30 will help the oil get to all the critical components faster
than 10w30, at normal operating temperature 5w30 and 10w30 are the same
viscosity (or thickness if you will) when you get to the 40 grade it has a
higher viscosity at operating temperature, which is why its sludging
The 2.7 has a slude issue? No they have a neglect issue if you change the
oil and use synthetic oil they do not sludge up. As far as the waterpump
goes they do have a design flaw so if the car overheats or has milky oil do
not run it and take it to the mechanic asap you can save the 2.7 if youre
smart . Ive never had any sludge issues with mine or any engine problems
period it has almost 157.000 the 2.7 can get 300.000 miles if you take care
of them.
+Royce Bridges 2.7 has a sludge issue if you don't do regular maintenance on it. Mine has 200k on it, running full synthetic and oil changes every 3000-4000 miles. But people are idiots and don't know that you need to change the oil every few thousand miles, depending on your type of driving.
Incorrect Tim. I am a fiend for auto maintenance. This 2.7 definitely has a sludge issue.
The importance of changing your oil part 2
After a bit of work and an engine flush. We removed most of the sludge from the engine and saved the customer some money. Just another day at Phil's ...
