so i just recently changed out the one on my 99 300m and after two weeks
the brand new one was blown out....i talked to a buddy of mine and he said
that i was supposed to change out the wiring that leads to the resistor as
well. is this true? and if so, i'm going to assume that it's a dealer part
as well since autozone doesn't carry it.
Just replaced the fan switch which was kind of a pain in the butt and it
cost $40 from a junk yard. Put it in and of course it didn't fix the
problem. Came inside and found this post went to the Auto Zone and in 10
minutes and $23 later had the problem solved. Thank you, thank you, thank
you!!! BTW: You were hysterical in the video. :)
Looks like your lens might have an internal issue as a result of the camera
being dropped. If thats the problem the lens is half the cost of a new
camera. Is it under any kind of warranty? Did you buy an extended warranty
when bought the camera? It may cover that kind of issue.Doesnt take much of
a drop to screw up a camera.
Hy. This is my brother id, but. I am from Europe. I have a 1997 Chrysler
Stratus LE 2.0 131bhp. In 3 weacs i changed 3 heat resistors. Fan speds
1,2,3. Dont work. Want thoo do. I can not afort to buy each weeak a new
heat resistor.. OMG there are so weak. Sory my bad english and if you can
please help me. Thanx
My Cirrus has this issue and I plan on trying to fix it when i get the
part. I hope this helps. Thanks for the instructive video that is going to
save me a bundle. (if it works) Mechanic priced it at $200 without labor!
Thanks again!!
thanx !!! that was very helpful..man , i have the same car..wht a
junk..everthing is falling apart. but i know wht happen to the fan blower
resister, when if you leave the fan on , and turn on he engeine, it shorts
it out.
Thank you! I have an 05 status. Resistor looks little different. But same
install. Couldn't have done it without video because dodge forum said to
remove glove box. I was lost. Thank you so much!
Dude your hilarious. You sound just like me whenever I work on my piece of
crap car. Gotta do this for my 98 breeze. At least I won't have to deal
with a piece of junk camera while doing it.
Great video! I am from Europe (Romania) and in my country i hawe few people
who know something about Chrysler and it is really hard to find spare
parts. Thx again for the helpful video.
Thank you for posting this video. The money I save by not having a mechanic
do this, I will spend on my children and tell them it is thanks to you.
Love your attitude too. lol
Thanks a ton for posting this video. I know I saved over 150 dollars for
installing this part on my own and it took only 20 minutes or so. Keep up
the good work!
great video... 5 mins. after seeing your video and it was done... It would
have been much more time. I did not know the push pins were not screws.
Thanks you.
Is this what needs to be changed if the high setting only worked and now
none of it does? The whole system stopped blowing today. I have a 98
Stratus. Thanks
Excellent video , and thanks for posting this.
I had the same thing with my 2002 caravan , replaced the resistor and
surprised how easy it was.
These are the kind of information videos that make it worthwhile using
utube.
Hey Steve
the blower motor has a buzz but no real air movement, the rear blower fan
however goes full bore. on your example the fan switch on high made the fan
go on high, mine gets no reaction whatsoever.
I've checked the relay and the fuse under the engine hood both are good.
do you suppose the problem is still likely just the resistor or does it
sound more like the motor?
+Layne Tepleski if ther dual climate controls has 2 fan controllers, it's possible there are 2 different resistors. If thats the case, the resistor couyld be bad but if your van only has 1 but 2 blower motors, it might be the front blower motor. My vans only had the one fan control so i'm not sure. Cheers Layne
I have problem 2002 caravan fan switch. is it normal that if I turn
ignition on but not start the engine the fan is lowest position and it's
already blowing? tnx
+Veiko Aart if the power is turned on for the fan, yes. the ignition is the main power for all the electrical in the van unlike the accessory setting. cheers!
Is there a way to test to determine it's the resistor?
I had an issue last year where the fan quit, but started working again the
next day. Yesterday I parked, turned the blower down to lowest setting,
shut off the engine. When I got back in, started it up, turned on the fan,
nothing at any speed, any setting. Thankfully, when moving the outside air
was enough to get some air conditioning...
+Waya Adisi im not sure how you could test it but if it works for awhile then doesn't it could be a broken wire or loose connector. someone may have a test walk through on the dodge forum or youtube
Thank you for your video man, i live right here in nova Scotia, Halifax
north end, and buying a 2002 caravan, but i noticed the blower fan has a
same problem, now i now how to fix it...good man, next time i see you, i
will buy a donier !!!
Thanks a lot. You saved me a lot of money by posting this help video. $25
for the blower resister and a little bit of hand sweat. Now all the
settings on my car heat are working properly again!
Thank you for watching. Please let us know how the repair comes out!1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Replace Blower Resistor for 2000 Chrysler Town and Country
After all the speeds of my fan for the heater and a/c blower quit working except for only on high, I was surprised to find out that I could fix it with only an $11 part ...
+stoppedsnoring I was really lucky. I gave up for the time being, let it go and went about my business. Was so surprised when I turned on the blower, as I was out and about and low and behold, all speeds worked! Some how messing with it got it to work again!!! Now I am glad it didn't come out! I had seen posts where hitting a bump made it stop working so maybe that was the problem, just not connected perhaps. Thanks for the note! Keeping the part for insurance!
Thanks for the information. It may not be the easiest job to get the new
resister put back in, but it does work now and for less than $12, that is
great!!
I replaced the part... the blower wouldn't work at all... I disconnected
the wiring... it blows only on high... which is what it was doing... I
don't understand how it's working when not connected at all... and works
the same as when connected to the old burned up part. Yet won't work with a
new part.
+xsxthunderxsx I did the same so i took it back out (helps if you unbolt the AC pipe clamp and lower it a bit) and what i found was that the arms on the sides had pushed in too far and created a short by touching the actual resistor. I eased the arms back ut away form the resistor and fitted it back again more carefully and its fine. Actually i also checked that the problem was fixed by connecting the wiring back to the new part before actually installing it the first time so i knew that the fix would be right, just a bit clumsy is all =)
Yeah, that's interesting. As the name implies, a resistor pack provides resistance in order to provide the different speeds for the blower. The fan running through no resistors then would effectively be on high. Sounds like there may be something else going on in your situation, perhaps with the switch itself or possibly the blower.
Chrysler Sebring Convertible HEATER BLOWER RESISTOR '96-'00
This is the simple fix for a typical problem that occurs with the Heater Blower Motor Resistor, whereby the fan only works on "High". fix it - problem heater only ...
when I got mine this week I noticed that the blower didnt function at
all... after fuses replacement (all of them, including circuit breakers) I
turned it on, and to my surprise, now functions well!!.. huh!... The other
issue realted to this "AC control unit" is the functions dont work to
change it from "floor" setting to "windshield defroster" mode ... its stuck
on blowing out towards the occupants and/or "floor". It will not change. I
watched you vid on the vent lubing... Is that the fix? thx
Sebring Convertible, Fix LED Console Light with EL Inverter
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekKtSPcjXpI
The shift indicator lights on the console typically will not work or the
light will go out
intermittently from time to time. This is a common problem on the Chrysler
Sebring convertible The problem of the shift indicator light or console
light not working is usually a simple solution that arises from a faulty
or defective EL inverter. This video shows how to fix it.
Tks for the video! Really helped. Couple of suggestions:
1. On my 98 Sebring convertible, there were 2 plastic "nails." The one you
pulled, and another near the floor at the left to remove the plastic
cowling.
2. It would've been helpful if you'd completed removing the resistor
assembly. There actually are 2 separate plugs into it, which required
prying with a screwdriver to get loose. A bit more difficult than you
implied.
Hope this helps somebody!
Hey Syy, just to say thanks for this video, my son has the 99 convertible
too, and developed this problem, an easy fix with you help.. Hardest part
was pulling the connector plug from the resistor part, that thing was IN
there, but it is all good now with the new part. Keep those Sebring videos
coming, I really like the car, I am considering finding one for myself :)
It handles the road amazing...
Thanks for all of your great videos. They have been very helpful!
Note that if the resistor goes out again right away, like mine did, it is
because the blower motor is drawing too much current and will have to be
replaced too. In other words, it's the bad blower motor that caused the
resistor to fail in the first place. If the fuse is blown it's probably the
same issue.
It might fix it. But usually when the resistor goes the fan only works on
high. You may want to try replugging in the resistor. It could be corroded.
If you you are smacking something to get it to work again then obviously
something is not connected good. It could be the resistor. That is the most
common fail point and the cheapest & easiest thing to fix.
Great Vid Thanks for posting. Got a 2004 Sebring Touring, Would it be the
same for us as well? Ours died (works only on 4) a couple days ago and
going on Holiday next week. Not looking forward to 7 days in the car with
only A/C on high.
Thank you do much, my girl's 03' Convertible AC went out. I bought the
piece at an auto parts store but I didn't know where to begin looking for
the piece located on the actual car. Does it vary from the 99'-01' to 03'
models.?
I don't know offhand. You can sometimes pinpoint the exact source of a
noise by listening through a cardboard tube or hose and placing the end of
the hose near where you suspect the problem is.
Sometimes I have to hit up under my glove compartment for my fan to run
again...and it only blows on medium and high, would this take care of that
also? Or do you think its the motor itself?
Yes, that is the fix in the vast majority of cases. Also that area needs to
be relubed every so often or else the vent knob gets stuck again. But it is
easy once you know what to do.
thankyou very much for this video. figured it was an easy fix and this
helped me find the exact part to replace. all your vids are very helpful.
thanks again.
Had mine replaced, (switch was not checked nor replaced ) worked on all
settings for 2 days........again, is only working on high. What else could
it be?
