Tell that to people paying 10-15k $ a year and not getting any scholarships. But also tell that to many European students going to top level universities and not starting their life in debt, and not having to worry about it either. Multiple countries actually pay their students to visit universities. I have not heard of the quality of European universities being low. We're talking about the average university and its average student here, not just the top notch of which Europe has its fair share especially looking at Paris (Sorbonne), Zurich (ETH) and the UK.

So what kind of incentive does it give people to be successful if the government is punishing you for it by taxing more? There should be a simple flat tax across the board, that's what equality is. College isn't that expensive, honestly, if you do it right. I'm midway through my junior year with no job and have yet to take out a loan. America's ivy league colleges, amongst the world's populous, are consistently rated the best in the world, and the state university's and private institutions aren't far behind.
