I`m looking at the Sony A7S with great interest. It presumably has the same
apps for wifi.
Have you tested the maximum distance possible between phone and camera? My
intention is to shoot marmots in video mode while hid far enough away so as
not to disturb them. Thanks

+Ian Swarbrick if you have the budget for the body and the lenses. A7s would be a better option than a7 or a7ii for film making. I said so, because in A7s moire wouldn't be a problem, can shoot in the dark, have an Slog 2(though minimal ISO is 3200 in Slog), and its a great investment for a better quality output if you ever bought the ATOMOS(or similar device).

I would say that the only real advantage that the A7S has over the A7 is the ability to shoot in the dark with less noise. The video on the A7S ONLY outputs 4k if you have an HDMI input device (over $1000) and the dynamic range doesn't have a noticeable difference over the A7 in video mode, unless you really pixel peep. I would say for the price, the A7 is a better choice if you only plan to shoot during the day.

Nice review.
Anyway, just update the smart remote control application and you will get
all the controls like aperture, shutter speed , ISO , WB etc.
