I let it idle for a minute and now it idles higher than normal. since
there's been a change in idle the temp sensor has to be working right?

its supposed to start high and settle down, not the other way around. did you check the wires?

zero ohms on each wire, make sure you isolate the circuits

I'm currently using the 12551708. that was my next step tracing the black
and yellow wires and test for reference voltage coming from the pcm to the
sensor. yea I connected that to the gauge. no the scan gauge still reads 38
doesn't move

you use a multimeter and ohm out theyellow and black wires separately. that's the problem I'm sure

Unfortunately it did not work. when the tune was done i was told the ecm
was reading -38° it was because I was using the factory 2 pin style cool
temp so there was no temp reading. I use a scan gauge everything is
connected like in your video yet I still get the -38° reading. what can I
do to troubleshoot any info would help thanks again

use the 12551708, make sure the black and yellow wires are ok all the way to the pcm, the middle pin is to run your gauge. does it move from 38 when it warms up?

tu178dg from autozone, it comes with the pigtail and the combo sensor/sender. 97 Camaro v6. won't work with new style threads.

I'm not exactly sure if the sender matches your year gauge. if it doesn't, you may need to reuse your oem sender and adapt it to the new block

12551708 is the sensor/sender, just go to Napa and get the pigtail, I can't remember the part number. It's not hard to find

Hello, I bought a tempe sensor in your site and there i saw that i can use
with my GARMIN 62ST. But I search in the device and don't find where i pair
with the sensor. On my device don't have ANT Sensor beside the Marine icon.
On the 62ST have a different icon called Fitness and inside this menu have
only 2 things: Heart Monitor and Bike Sensor. Please, can you explain me
how a pair with my device? I already search on the manual and don't find
anything speaking about that. Thank you!

Hello! I again... My device isn't updated. There are support for tempe
sensor only in 4.40 version. The changes history: Changes made from version
4.30 to 4.40: - Added Adventure support with latest version of BaseCamp. -
Added support for new tempe sensor.

Great quick video! Thank you for sharing this. How did you know that it
needed to be replaced? Did the odometer display just say "COOLANT"?
My display has been showing that but the coolant level is not low so I do
not know what's wrong. Any thoughts?

Yes process of elimination, I changed water level, radiator is new. Had another mechanic double check as well.
