Thanks for the video Chris! I was a little worried about iPhone 5 WiFi hotspot speeds after watching your video so I did a quick test of my own with my brother's iPhone 5 and iPad 3. Speed test on the phone came out 12.12 Mbps and a speed test on the iPad through hotspot came out 16.18 Mbps. Strange hey? PS. I noticed in your iPhone 5 v. S3 benchmark, you compared speed tests but the results were a week apart. Would you be able to do them side by side?

@Lilmoody3 when you turn personal hotspot on, then the iPhone switches over to mobile data. But the test is unfair: the GS3 is connected to 4G LTE while the iPhone 5 is connected to HSPA+ (3G)... Only iPhones with AT&T show this as '4G', but it is no 4G... When the iPhone 5 is connected to 4G LTE it says 'LTE'...

Isn't it at all curious that the S3 and IPhone 5 connected to different hosting services for the speedtest and that variable was never mentioned in the video? Not sure this is a completely valid test. More valid would be a laptop doing a file transfer from a known server.

My galaxy S3 has always been real good as hotspot. Think I'll add speedtest and try this to my tablet..won't be surprised though if I don't score much higher than iPhone 5 as hotspot. Thanks for idea on this test.

The S3 is using 4g LTE and the iPhone is using wifi.
