Replaced many of these , the teeth bite into plastic pipe and make a weak
point.Awesome for copper etc. I wouldn't trust them indefinitely inside a
wall on plastic pipes. If you have a situation where the water "hammers" the
pipes when you use and shut off fixtures, you should also be fixing that
problem , but especially when using these on plastic piping. Most of these
I've replaced wore a thin ring spot into the plastic pipe and caused a
failure.On copper they're absolutely fine.
The 25 year guarantee is on the materials not the workmanship. That said,
it takes no skill to install these fittings and they cost way too much. A
real plumber is a craftsman. The typical soldered copper fitting when
properly prepared and soldered will last at least 50 yrs providing your
water is not aggressive and deteriorates copper. Therfore a real plumber
can warranty his work for double that time.
@Brd1515 Yep thats right.. the Plumber would rather use "Soldered fittings"
with the seriously high labour costs.. In construction it's LABOUR that
makes up the majority of the bill not the fittings! they hate these
fittings and also hate Pex Pipe!!!!
I just used some of these fittings on a hot water tank installation at my
office. They are holding great, took no time at all, and didn't have to dry
out the existing pipes. I am no pro...but these fittings made it seem like
I was. Awesome product!!
Like it or lump it plastic pipe and push fit fittings are the future.
Copper pipe is made so thin now its not first time I have bent it and its
split at the back of the bend. Give it a few years and we will see a lot of
pinholes I cant wait.
I use them for tight spots where you might burn something with your
torch...or a quick transition between copper and pex....rarely leak, as
long as there is no stress on the piping
My plumbing supply rep brought to my attention a new product in the US market called Aquatherm. This is a PEX alternative that seems to have some pretty ...
If you can affored it use Swagelok instrument tube fittings(1/4"to3/4" SS
double ferrule tube fitting). Swagelok is superior to any plumbing system
bar none. It is used in Oil & gas platforms, it has higher pressure and
temp ratings. If you have a multiillion dollar home dont use crap like
PPRfittings. In Germany they use mapress stainless steel swaged
fittings.Cheaper than Swagelok. The Germans sell PPR(Aquatherm) to countries
like East europe,Asia.Industrial applications now ban alot of PPR pipe
