Thanks Sonia. I will try making the recipe with brown rice. I can see how
white rice would be stickier but it basically has no nutritional value and
a higher blood sugar spike than brown rice. Both I am trying to avoid.
+Diane Barnett Although brown rice has more nutrients, white rice still has some nutritional value. Dr. McDougall discussed that in one of his seminars! :)
+Diane Barnett I think you can. The thing is that white rice is stickier and it helps hold the burger. But the walnuts and the buckwheat do already the job, so I think I might work too with brown rice :) If you try, let me know how it goes :)
I just made black bean burgers last night but they basically came all apart
as I was eating it. I want to try these but my 2 yr old daughter is
allergic to nuts, is the walnut absolutely necessary for the integrity of
the patty? I'm Latina, I grew up eating yucca and a lot of starchy
verduras. I haven't read the book but I'm trying to follow Dr. McDougal's
high starch diet, do you eat these types of veggies or are they not a good
starch to eat?
+aideeng1 Hi! Those starches are great. I´ve never tried yucca but I would love to! How is the taste? Similar to sweet potatoes? Concerning this patties, I´m pretty sure you can make them without the nuts. If your daughter is not allergic to seeds, you could try using 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds blended into a flour (also hemp seeds would work). Otherwise, just substitute the walnuts with 1/3 cup of chickpea flour. I´m pretty sure they won´t fall apart! :) Let me know how it goes!
