Repairing our schools through restorative justice: Jean Klasovsky at TEDxWellsStreetED
Relying on suspensions and zero-tolerance discipline doesn't deter misbehavior in schools--in fact, it makes matters worse. Teacher Jean Klasovsky shares ...
Paul Sperry wrote and article in the New York Times about this "Restorative
Justice" garbage. It's called 'how liberal policies are making schools less
safe'.The REAL WORLD result of this policy in the class room is that
teachers are not allowed to dismiss unruly or even dangerous and violent
students. The statistics support the fact of the very predictable spike of
violence in every school in which this has been implemented. This ditsy
teacher talks about how discipline referrals have gone down. How does that
equate to the initial bad behavior which warrants the referrals going down?
This is more useless touchy feely liberal nonsense that is not applicable
int the real world. No surprise though that TED has developed into another
sanctuary for deranged leftist "thought".
+Michael Meyer I live in the real world, little fella. Huggin it out doesn't stop violent people from acting out their disfunction. You limp wristed leftist fuck boys will be the shame of real men everywhere forever. Also, cave men like you were killed and their skins made into cave women's hand bags, weakling. In the field I would take your life and render your fat for fire kit.
Self-Discipline Advice from a Roman Emperor - College Info Geek
Marcus Aurelius, who ruled Rome from 161 to 180, had some thoughts on self-discipline that he wrote down in his book "Meditations." I think you can apply his ...
+Pawan Saunya it depends on the video (though I don't have a teleprompter). Sometimes I'll go off of a general outline and basically improvize the way I say each point; other times I'll have a full script. For the fully scripted videos, I'll either practice several times before filming, or just have the script open in Evernote's presentation mode behind the camera - for these videos, I'll memorize lines one at a time, then look at the camera and say them (and screw up a lot).
+Angeles Mena yep! There's a book I want to read before doing that video (Barbara Oakley's "A Mind for Numbers") as well as some other resources I need to go through, but it's coming.
It incredible that English language barely changes. I suppose that book was
translated centuries ago, and it sound like...normal. In my language, it´s
quite different to read a book of the 1700`s and another of nowadays. For
somebody who does not read very often, it would be very hard to understand.
+Angeles Mena on the contrary, English has changed a lot since then. This is actually a very modern translation of Meditations - I think it's from "The Emperor's Handbook". My Penguin Classics edition of the book uses much older English.
I' ve just discovered your videos.. and they're amazing!! Thanks for all
the great tips!! Also, you have the most incredible eyes :D can I ask you
what are you studying?
+Thomas Frank wow.. that's a bunch of interests.. but it doesn't surprise me. You are the most organized person I know so far :D I really look up at your willpower :)
+valarmorghulis thanks! I'm actually done with college for now. Informally, though, I'm currently studying the science of learning/memory/habit formation, as well as car mechanics.
Hi in your experience there are "Magic" techniques to retain more of what
you study for a long period of time other than understand, attention, active
recall and spaced repetition?
+Woody Undepressed nope, sadly there are no magical ways to learn or remember things. However, there are more ~effective~ techniques, including the ones you mentioned. More will be covered in future videos - just keep in mind that they all require hard work ;)
+Tengihia Pousini more book recommendations are coming! I've got a page on the blog with some recommendations, and I'll be massively expanding that in the near future :) //collegeinfogeek.com/essential-books-for-students/

Behavior and Grades Improve after Dr. Fred Jones Tools For Teaching Training
Granite Hills High School freshmen describe behavior and grades improvement after discipline and instruction and motivation intervention. They are Mrs.
Right. The answer is that simple. It's people like you who blame educators
who contribute to the majority of the problem through your ignorance.I
invite you to spend a week in my classroom any time. Not only will I leave
you alone with the kids, you'll have to do all the planning, meetings,
lesson planning, paperwork, oh yeah...And don't forget teaching.And don't
forget that all your materials you use come out of your own pocket. Also
you're on your own decorating your class.
And that just names a few of the tasks of the typical teacher. So it's wise
to not comment without some prior first-hand experience. The reason
education is the way it is is because we have become a lazy, self-indulgent
nation who does not value or even (often times) show respect for its
professionals who help others. So many don't put any stock in what a
teacher contributes.Cops, military, nurses, firemen, teachers: can you
think of professions that are truly more noble?
Yes, teachers need to be trained in classroom management which is rarely
offered to them in college programs. Just like every profession, there is a
learning curve and continuing professional development, like Fred Jones,
Tools For Teaching prepare teaches for the reality of the classroom with
successful discipline, instruction and motivation techniques. All teachers
need training and support , especially in their first few years in the
profession.
Fred Jones is a national treasure in education! Not only has his work
created success for teachers and students all the nation, he also has
created a Parent training that brings positive relationships to every
family. I congratulate Mrs. Garcia and her students for their honesty and
desire to help other schools and students see that they can succeed. Bravo!
Wow this is pretty retarded. I helped filmed this.
