New Pancreatitis Treatment-Mayo Clinic
Your pancreas is an organ that does two things: it secretes enzymes that help you digest food, and it creates insulin to regulate blood sugar. But sometimes gall ...
@mayoclinic Hi, I hope u can reply to my question. I have not been
diagnosed with pancreatitis but a friend of mine has it and after comparing
pain I am like 99.999% sure I have it. I have had Endoscopies and catscans
but nothing shows up. I recently had my GB out and thats when my pain got
worse. I no longer have Insurance, my questiomn to u is how can I slow it
down??, I'm in the process of getting Insurance for further testing. And
yes I have stopped drinking since my friend told me to stop.
you know i totally get you on the pills theyre horrible i hate how other
people judge you everytime i go to the e.r. they make fun on how many times
ive been in there and they look at me like im some kind of junkie you ive
never drank a drop of alchahol and they havent found the cause for it ,i
dont know what to do i have been in every hospital in arizona and nothing
and they told me is that i have to take the enzymes with everything and
that i might need that surgery where they cut a piece off
@BytomGirl Dr. Todd Baron, Page 1There are ways to remove the gallstones
from the gallbladder but it is so much more difficult than when they are in
the bile duct - in fact nearly impossible, most centers in the world don't
even try - we do in very rare circumstances. Since laparoscopic
cholecystectomy (surgical removal) has become so easy as well as the fact
that gallstones can reform within the gallbladder and the gallbladder is
usually diseased (chronic inflammation) and poorly functioning,
I'm a Doctor: what this is video is talking about are people who have a
stone hung in the duct blocking the pancreas. This procedure would help
those patients. However, most cases of pancreatitis are caused by alcohol
use. After thinking alcohol, alcohol, alcohol, then we think of another
reason on the list, usually mixed with alcohol. The procedure discussed
above would not be helpful to a patient suffering pancreatitis (the average
case) from other causes besides "stone in duct."
@mayoclinic Thank you Doctor for the reply. Will I be able to digest the
fatty food (good fats, I don;t eat the bad) and dring wine? I had a concern
with the bile being released from the liver directly into stomach as I
undestand it is more acidic than the bile stored in gall bladder, I heard
of instances where it can do demage to the colon. How often does that
happen? In any case, I guess I do;t have a choice but to remove it. What is
your opinion on gall bladder cleanse?
Just a couple of days ago I had a endoscopic procedure to remove gall
stones from bile tract, 8 of them, one very large. some earlier were lodged
in pancreas causing pancratitis so I was on IV 4 days with no food or water
to clear up the inflamation. I still have stones in gall bladder and
doctors wanted to remove the whole gallblader. Is the a way to get rid of
them in but leave gallbladder intact? My hospital doesn't remove the stones
from gallbladder endoscopically :-(
I have suffered from several attacks of Acute Pancreatitis with no known
cause. I am currently under medication for GERD and have had 4 RF ablations
to eradicate Barrett's Esophagus. I have had several tests to rule out Gall
Bladder disease. The only test I have had that proved to be odd was an
MRICP that showed my bile duct shown to be serated. Is this procedure a
good idea for my case? I do not want to keep ending up hospitalized due to
this horrible condition!
can this procedure be done in children. my daughter its 12 yrs old but she
its almost an adult size . she weights 71.4 k and her height its 5 f 5
inch. she needs a cyst drainage. she has been in a hospital for almost 11
weeks but now the cyst got infected and the docs have put a plastic stent
in her pancreatic duct to drain it. hope it does not clog if it does.
theyll put a thicket one or do a radiology drainage or this procedure
please some body help!!!!
I am 31 and had Severe Necrotising Pancreatitis, lost 80% of my Pancreas. I
had my Gall Bladder removed but still have all the gunk left from what used
to be my Pancreas. My surgeon wants to wrap it up like a dumpling with
intestinal tissue that he has removed from my intestine. This is open
surgery and freaks me out a bit. I would really like to here back from you
guys about how you went post Severe Necrotising Pancreatitis.
@sopbabe hi, I have also endured 2 lengthy visits to the hospital for acute
necrotizing pancreatitis. It is a terrible affliction. No one should have
to deal with but we, for a time have kinds do. I don't want to be the one
to give you healthcare advise so don't just do what I say. But I know that
the key to my recover was to be absolutely NPO! Ng tube with repleat.
That's what finally got me better. That And another thing
@zacman. Dude. This is crazy, my name is Zach I suffer throught 9 months in
the hospital then about 6 at home till I was back on my feet! Today I am
doing great, we aren't completely out of the woods yet (surgery wise) but
im fantastic, I live a totally normal life again. My name is Zach. I'm 27
and I live in Utah.
Wow, after reading everyones stories I am very fortunate. I have had two
acute attacks. They have not found a cause. I am 17 and have had 2 attacks
in 2 years. They have removed my gall bladder and I have had ERCPs. But man
I am proud of all of you! May God bless all of you and lay his hand of
healing on you all.
i know ive had it since i was 22 i am not 25 and last year i was in the
hospital 22 times i dont drink or anything so they never found the cause of
it ive had two brain tumors before and the pain of that is nothing compared
to the pancreas im just sad and dissapointed that they havent found a cause
for it
You canot eat when you have pancreatitis! Only clear liquids should be
consumed! Do not drink alcohol as it can lead to chronic pancreatitis or
even pancreatic cancer! It is important that you go directly to the ER when
a pancreatic attack occurs in order to receive IV nutrition!
@BytomGirl Dr. Todd Baron, Page 2 we recommend it be removed. In some
patients we recommend leaving the gallbladder in with the stones, but this
is also uncommon and generally only done in patients with other diseases so
severe that it is more dangerous to do anything but wait.
What if you are not a drinker! What if you had your GB removed? I have had
all my organs rearranged, half stomach, small bowl,! Bowl herniations, bowl
obstructions! I'm told I'm a drug seeker when i go to the ER . Makes one
cosider suicide, no listens!
I've had chronic pancreatitis for 7 years now due to pancreas divisum..I've
had ERCP's and a sphinctoplasty..nothing has helped. My question is..is
this the same as an ERCP? Please let me know..I DON'T want a whipple or the
ICT surgery done yet.
It was the worst pain I had ever felt when I had an attack. I had two of
them before I went to the emergency room. Mine was caused by high doses of
caffeine from energy drinks. Red bull almost killed me for real
@triggert531 So pretty much people that have chronic pancreatitis are
screwed? I think I have alcoholic pancreatitis, if I knew or was suspicious
I would of quit drinking 4 yrs ago...=/
The procedure can be done in children, if indicated. We would need to have
more information to assess whether the procedure we describe is the correct
thing for your daughter.
This is terrible man! I know how much it hurts than when all you really
need is some morphine you here nurse say that your condition is dubious. It
really does suck
They took out almost all of my Pancreas I am now a type one diabetic i was
in the hospital for 36 days and almost lost my life and im only 15 years old
